Install web app
You can add the site to your home screen. It opens like an app and uses the same login. It is just this site, installed from the browser — there is no store app any more.
Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave and most other current browsers follow the Chromium steps. Safari on iPhone is different (and Chrome on iPhone cannot do this — use Safari).
iPhone and iPad
- Open www.my-diary.org in Safari (not Chrome or Firefox).
- Tap the Share button (square with an arrow, in the toolbar).
- Scroll and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add.
The icon will sit with your other apps. If you do not see “Add to Home Screen”, scroll the share sheet — it is often below the first row of icons.
Push notifications on iPhone only work from that Home Screen icon, not from a Safari tab. Open the icon, then turn them on under Account.
Chrome, Edge, Opera and Android
On a computer, look for an install icon in the address bar (a monitor with a down arrow, or a plus). Or open the browser menu and choose Install My Diary / Add to Home screen / Install app — the wording varies a little.
On Android the same thing lives in the browser menu, usually Install app or Add to Home screen.
If this browser supports it, an Install web app button also appears in the footer. That is the same prompt as the address bar.
