Oh, Christmas Tree!

Our tree this year is a Charlie Brown kind of tree. It's
fairly large but straggly with some branches longer than
others and more than a few bare spots. It will be a
challenge to make it look beautiful but I'll get the boys to
help me make lots of popcorn strings and that, along with
all the ornaments, will help. We always use a living tree
but usually only for two years in a row. Then we plant
them. But we've just never gotten around to planting this
one and it's in its fourth year. Right now it's sitting on
the covered part of the back deck. I need to remember to
move the little Christmas tree under the roof too. It will
go in our bedroom.

I looked at the five day forecast in the paper this morning
and it appears it'll be getting cooler at night with Sunday
night's temperature predicted to be 34 degrees. Too darn
close to freezing for me. Now that we're only a few blocks
instead of four miles from the local market I don't
worry as much about running out of basics. I remember
paying careful attention to winter storm warnings when we
lived out in the country and would make certain to stock up
on milk, eggs, and bread.

Now Jack, on the other hand, is basking in 75 degree weather
in Baltimore! How strange that must be! I came across his
resume on the Internet the other day

I don't have a clue what much of it means but it certainly sounds
impressive!

I picked up Owen in Corvallis. He wanted to bring his
computer home. The idea was to set it up in Hugh's room and
then share it with him. Hugh doesn't mind as Owen's
computer is much better. Hugh is coming with me to
Corvallis to help load Owen's stuff in the van. I asked
Owen to bring his quilt home so I can wash it and check to
see if it needs any repairs. I checked my library account
webpage and found that there's a slew of reserved books
waiting for me so I'll pick those up as well. A few are
mysteries for John but there are a number of new or
interlibrary loan quilt books for me.

This afternoon I worked on a cross stitch design from Birds
of a Feather called Snowman Family. There are six little
ornaments--a snowman, a snowlady, a snowgirl, a snowboy, a
snowbaby and a snowdog. White seed beads are sewn in the
background to represent snow. I've almost finished the
snowman and will add him to the little stack of finished
cross-stitch projects I need to make into ornaments. That
poor tree will need all of them it can get!
