Thanksgiving

We woke up during the wee hours of the morning, and drove
3.5 hours to Maw Maw and Paw Paw's house. We got there
around 10... still beating all the other cousins, who had
much shorter drives than us, although Aunt Judy #1 and co.
thought that they had beaten us since Mom had gone out for
marshmallows... but that will never happen; it's an old
family axiom that they are always late. It was good to see
everyone, and be in a warm, full house. All 15 of us were
there, and it's been almost a year since we've all been
together. The house had that wonderful Thanksgiving smell,
and even though I didn't eat the turkey, there was still a
TON of food (yum... pecan pie!). I still love
Thanksgiving, but somehow it was more fun when you were
little, and all the cousins would play a giant game of hide
and seek, or football in the backyard...but I grow
nostalgic... We got to hear (mulitiple times) about Paw
Paw's new hearing aid, and Jim and Aunt Judy #2's new
house, and Laura's first year of college, and where Douglas
has applied, and where Jason is going to graduate school,
and what medicines Judy #1 is taking; but somehow I
wouldn't trade it for anything. Laura and I talked for
awhile, and we wrote down our AIM namws, so hopefully we'll
stay in touch. Douglas still has a stick up his butt, but
I'm still hopeful that he'll outgrow it. I think we all fell asleep
at some point. We just got home a little bit ago, and it
feels weird to be HOME for part of Thanksgiving. But it
was a satisfying day...and the night sky was beautiful.
