The Nine Faces of Dave

let's do lunch at Hiram's Deli

I went to see 'Curse of the Jade Scorpion' tonight. Woody
Allen is a damn good director. He's done some crazy shit
with his private life, but he still makes movies like no one
can. I can also count on Woody Allen to make movies that
don't insult my intelligence (more on this later).
Anyway, this got me thinking about the many films I've seen.
I love movies, as much for their entertainment value as for
the act of watching. Now, my top 5 list of films would be
much different from those of most people my age. I
attribute that partially to a difference in exposure and
partially to the same differences that cause me to like
songs by Tea Party and theThe while other people listen to
Rage Against the Machine.

Here's a list of some of my favorites. Check them out if
you get a chance.
* Army of Darkness
* Bladerunner
* El Mariachi
* Small Time Crooks
* Beavis & Butt-Head Do America
* Shaft
* Revenge of the Nerds (what?)

All sorts of movies are great, but cult classics strike me
as the best. There is no higher honor for a director than
the presence of a small but highly devoted following.
That's the sort of thing that continues through the ages.
15 years from now, everyone will have forgotten about 'She's
All That' and 'Titanic,' but someone, somewhere will be
watching 'Army of Darkness.'
