The Boy Looked At Johnny
October 28, 2002. Early evening.
The Big Party came and went and most of the people listed
in the previous entry showed. Apparently there were a
number of other, larger parties going on concurrently. But
it was a good group. It even included the obligatory Modern
Lovers singalong with myself, Katie, Bradley, Dave and Nate
("Hey old Mr. Ahern, calm down awhile -- you know that's
the only this center is ever gonna get better DUH DUH DUH
DUH!"). It was a lot of fun.
I knocked back a bunch more than I usually do. Generally
it's all over for me after three or so (being a total
lightweight), but last night I managed to sneak in
somewhere between six and eight. Which was fine, but at
after the last person had left (Bradley) at about three,
two more latecomers showed up and stayed for awhile. One of
them casually updated me in the course of conversation on
the current status between a certain person I once held
quite dear to me and another person for whom I have had
nothing save utter, burning contempt for some time -- it
was enough, at any rate, to send Drunk, Slobbering Andy
straight into Apeshit mode. I feel bad that these two
individuals, whom I think a lot of (and who have recently
hooked up themselves after breaking off their previous
relationships mere days ago) had to witness such a
gruesome, unnecessary display. I'm wondering if an
apologetic phone call may be in order. Eh.
I don't understand how people can hook up and break up so
casually, so quickly, so continuously, with so little
UPDATE, APRIL 18, 2002
Who's who in the "Apeshit mode" drunken post-party conversation? Now
it can be told!
1) "a certain person I once held quite dear to me" = Roseanne, who I
still to this day have not talked to or even seen around.
2) "another person for whom I have had nothing save utter, burning
contempt for some time" = Neil, who is actually a pretty swell guy;
this is jealousy talking here. It turns out they dated for all of two
weeks, anyway, and I got the whole nasty stroy from him a couple
weeks later. I see him around a bit, and as far as I can tell, we're
on good terms.
3) and 4) "two individuals, whom I think a lot of (and who have
recently hooked up themselves after breaking off their previous
relationships mere days ago)" = Curious Orange and Colin, who are
still an item, as far as I know. Incidentally, I thought "a lot of"
Curious Orange, of course, because I had such a huge damn crush on
her for so long. I still do think a lot of both of them, they're nice
kids, and Nate plays in a band with Colin now.
