Machine Fuckin' Head!
Mood: musical
Music: Machine Head 'Supercharger'
i'm sure it wont take a genius to guess i got Machine
Head's new cd. and just earlier today, before we went
out, i made a cd of Machine Head stuff. i grabbed 3
songs from all their cds. including the new one. i had
some mp3s. the new cd is better then the last. see,
their first cd, "Burn My Eyes" was produced by Colin
Richardson. and it was a very new type thing at the
time. but then there was Korn and all the others who
made Machine Head look like them, but Machine pulled
things from older death metal from bands like Slayer.
their second cd was also produced by Richardson. and
still had the speed and heavy riffs that resembled
Slayer mixed with this 'new' sound. then Machine
Head's third cd was produced by Ross Robinson. and
it nearly destroyed them. Robinson got Rob Flynn
(vocals, guitar) to rap on the cd, twice. and he changed
their music to sound more like the rest of the 'new
metal' bands he'd worked with. but Machine Head was
doing better off with their old sound. but then they did
what Korn tried to do. go back to the old sound. but
Korn's Issues flopped. but Machine Head actually went
back to the style they had been doing. with the help of
guess who. Colin Richardson. but this time mixing. the
guys of Machine Head wanted a raw sound. and they
could think of no one better then Richardson to get it.
he's the only guy who knows how to get the best out of
Machine Head. and it worked. MACHINE FUCKIN'
HEAD!!! and i wrote some new material. on the guitar
only. i haven't done anything new on the keyboards. i
wrote two new riffs and recorded them just so i had
them and then wrote what might be a new song. i might
change it some cuz it just kinda happened and i'm not
too sure about the breakdown. and i wrote some lyrics
to the songs i had recorded. there was one song i had
planned on calling 'Portable' but it turned out to be
called 'A Turn of Events'. it's a very heavy song, with
some dark lyrics and some good riffs. i'm really proud
of the breakdown. it's nice and lengthy and really cool.
in general i think it was influenced by Machine Head
and a little of Skinlab. see, Skinlab and Machine Head
do similer styles and i didn't notice at first, but Machine
Head is also a big influence. maybe equal if not more
then Skinlab. so yea, i've been writing more. i hope to
get some keyboards done today. and maybe finish a
couple of the songs i started last night.
