When the odds were against us
When the rain was at fall
You held my hand tightly
Stuck by me through it all.
You held my head up high
You were my wings when I couldn't fly
You heard the words I didn't say
And never let other people get in the way.
I could call you any time of night
You always dried my tears,
Comforted my fears
Told me everything was alright.
You helped me up when I was down
Turned my frowns upside down
You made me smile all the while
For you, I'd walk the extra mile.
From your mouth, never came a lie
And I can't help but wonder why
God took you away from me
The night you died.
