Living with a Prayer

Living here in FolkieVille I try to get downstairs for my Joe after 9 AM when the Mass come's on the TV because then afterwards they say the rosary and are occupied until about 10:30. I can move about the downstairs without having to do much conversing. Then their day is filled with worry about things they have no control over and things they do have control over. The former is worry about neices, nephews, Grands etc. Are they too fat, not married, lonely unemployed. You get the picture. The Latter is worry about how to get rid of all the books they have or the latest clothes that someone has giving them. In the past they used to go to the big Swap meet that was held every Saturday at the local High School so people knew they could drop off all the shit they didn't want anymore and the folks would sell it if they could. Mostly they didn't sell it so they would try to pawn it off on one of us. She still tries to give me coloring books and toys for my offspring , but they are in their twenties now and don't play with Barbies much anymore. Lately it's been robes and books. Take these robes and these books back home with you, like I'm some low rent type of Hugh Hefner Playboy who lounges all day in robes reading books. Then if I say I don't have a need for the item, She will say see if the Neighbors do. Umm, you mean those people from whom I hide in my car until they go away so I don't have to wave at them let alone possibly speak to. Oh shit, here comes that fucking weirdo with the books and the robes again. They'll start hiding in their cars until I go away.
Today's worry is the big mattress exchange. They haven't gotten a new mattress in 20 years and today UPS is going to deliver two new ones(Twins) since they are overdue. My Bother in law said around here we usually get a new mattress when somebody dies and the rest of kin drop one off at the folks house. I'm going to pull out the old frames and bring in the new ones and I have to take the old mattress and put it in the spare bedroom incase they want it back. Now she is worried that they will fall in the divide between the two beds so we will use zip ties to intwine them together.
I guess it's time to start that project. I'll go back home tonight since the covid has passed there for now and come back here Monday to start all over again.
....It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If'n you don't know by now
And it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It'll never do somehow
When your Rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm a-traveling on
But don't think twice, it's all right
