The costume and the cow parsley

Mon 05/06/2023
We missed another alert on Dice for a returned Swim Deep ticket, which came just before lunch, and they only gave us one hour’s notice to claim the ticket. We went to the dump to take my old broken, dirty computer chair which I haven’t used since 2020, and I went to MadWorld to hire a 1980s costume for Saturday’s party. The lady was very helpful, and I got a costume for an American cartoon character called She Ra. It's a very short white dress with a logo, and a red cloak which I love, together with a head-dress, and gold headpiece, long cuffs and boot-covers. I don't know whether anyone at the party will have heard of the character (I hadn't), but it's a good bold costume.

This meant that we didn’t have time to go to The Fields Beneath after eating at Organico, but we did walk home though the parks, which we haven’t done for a while.

I left Jack a paella and meant to leave on my run at 17:30 but was eight minutes late so inevitably I went the wrong way (I had to turn left after the park bridge, but must have gone over it without realising). Then when I arrived, myself TJ and some others met at the wrong spot, so by the time we found the others, everyone had arrived. I hate being the last to arrive, and I was pfaffing about putting long sleeves and running tights on, to protect against nettles.

Eventually I settled down in the mind, and after not really getting into a chat with Fiona and Aine (who I’m wary of anyway), I went to another area which contained big clumps of the cow parsley we were removing, which were easier to pull out by the roots, despite being much bigger. I got to chat with my favourite Emma and a new girl, Yelda.

Aine was there and she made a big announcement at the end about future social events. Laura wants to go to a comedy club. Apparently she'd sone some stand-up in the past, along with her many other achievements.

I was amazed by the enormity of the pile of weeds we’d all removed. I ran with Emma and Olivia to the station but that was far enough. After a few communication problems while I was on the Hammersmith & City line, I saw Jack coming out of St Pancras fitness centre, and we went for a coffee at Pret in Kings Cross
