Determinism

maybe it's a hot take, but fate and destiny to me sounds like a huge fuckin' cop out.
a poorly misunderstood concept that's conflated with self-actualization.
it is not "our job" to do anything in this life, and yet we are responsible for maintaining our own lives,
after being thrown into the world and forced to absorb everything around you for a decade or so.
some people don't get that much time.

maybe i would explore the ideas of fate and destiny past the surface level,
but to me, we already spend so much of our time generating the future in our heads.
more of us need to be in the present. and yet, we cannot completely write off the future.
the majority of us will choose to do so anyway, give or take a couple thousand years.
