Habitual sadness

It’s a cold sweat down my neck and back. Like I’m waiting for my mind to decide that this is a terrible night because of that one decision. Like a habit. Waiting for me to fall into that emotional state where I feel like everything is bad because of that one thing. But I think I’ll take a different path this time. Read. And feel good. And anticipate good days. Despite what I know I won’t like. Because I’m still free, I will feel free.
