desktop computer
i haven't had a (functioning) desktop computer in something like 5 years. nor a laptop. a shitty tablet sure, but 98% of my con-- everything, computing has been via this phone. and it's predecessors.
5 years worth of phone made diary entries. that's kind of impressive right? never knowing which printer i'll have to hijack next. to print off documents.
i remember when i was heavily into desktop pc culture in the late 90s/early 00s, i overheard a news story on the teevee about how in the not-too-distant future people won't even have desktop computers, it'll all be laptops or phones. "nonsense" i thought. I'll never stray.
i've become the not-too-distant future.
the stability of a desktop tower. maybe that's what's been missing ! and that sense of hope in those beige boxes, dialing up to a not totally corrupted information super highway. the early internet.
*uh oh* an icq notification screams in the distance
