This Is It - 2021
Rambling, Missing
Diem,
(Some rambling thoughts)
You know, it was my dad that got me into Pokémon. He got me into a lot of the things I like. Star Wars, Doctor Who, anime, fandom, conventions... We did a lot together in our little geek bubble
I started the games with the first games, actually. Red, Blue, and Yellow were released a couple years before I was born, but we still had them around by the time I was old enough to play. I played Yellow the most - I didn't like the idea of missing something because it was exclusive to only one of the original pair. I loved walking around with my little round Pikachu following me. I wasn't very good at it, being five and all, but I spent a lot of time in that game. - I got into the cards early too. My dad had some interesting pieces in his collection, including a couple of gold-plated cards that were a kids' meal toy prior to my birth. And I built up my own collection as well, in a binder he gave me. Like his. When he died, it took a bit before I transferred his cards into my binder. Now they're mixed up, indistinguishable from one another. A single collection.
My dream vacation is Japan. Always was. I wanted to go with him. I wanted to travel the world with him. Mexico, to see where our relatives once lived. Scotland, for the other half his family (and to see some of those adorable shaggy cows). Japan, a tourist hotspot - and for good reason. I have to plan for journeys without him now, but I hope he's able to enjoy them somehow
I miss him
