Horse shoes and snow
Currently sat at my kitchen table, looking out the patio doors into my back garden and the fields beyond it while the snow falls and thickens on the ground. Literally feel like I'm living inside a novel. There's only about an inch on the ground so far but it felt magical waking up to it and seeing my new view differently. It's falling thick and fast so I'm hoping that means the girls can take their sledge to the field we found on our walk yesterday and have some fun!
I still don't think I've settled into this house yet. It still very much feels like I'm house sitting for somebody else or something because it's just way too nice and fancy to be something I ever dreamed I would have. But I'm sure it just takes time and once our flooring is down and the wardrobes are up so things are put away, it will feel more mine.
It hasn't all been perfect though. We've walked around quite a bit the last few days so we can see the best places to take Wendy and while on our first walk, we found a horse shoe. Dean and I both have Irish in our family and they have always believed that finding a horse shoe is really lucky. Up until now, even living on farms, I have never found one, so we were all pretty excited because that can only be a good omen right?
Since finding it, our new oven turned up damaged in several places with a badly replaced door (we bought it as a 'new' item) and it looks like we won't be able to get another until MARCH. Our phone signals have been so bad, 1 bar at best and its making it so hard to contact anybody, but the Openreach guy came out yesterday to fit our phone line so we can have broadband...only he tells us the line is snapped somewhere down the road and needs to be repaired. This could take 2 weeks. So we have no TV, basically no phones or Internet and yet I'm working from home and the girls are home schooling. So to say we've got our challenges is an understatement.
But at the end of the day, I have a beautiful house and it's snowing outside and we're all still happy and healthy and covid free.
The floor will be laid soon, the wardrobes built, the line will be fixed and a new oven will come. I just need to keep positive about it.
