Confessions of a Slacker

A few thoughts on New Year's Eve

I entered the year 2020 with some trepidation and dread -- even though I knew nothing about what was to come with COVID.

I looked at the state of my finances and said, "One of three things absolutely must happen this year: I either have to get a job, receive an unexpected windfall, or declare bankruptcy."

Well, I did receive a small windfall in April -- in the form of a $1,200 COVID stimulus check. And due to COVID, I was already spending much less money as, due to lockdown, I was unable to eat at restaurants every day. I didn't think I could live without that, but I found ways to change my routine and adapt.

So I will enter 2021 still on my feet.

2020 is on its way out, vaccines are coming on line, almost all the snow on the ground has melted, money is on its way, and things are shaping up. All my needs will always be met, just as they always have been.
