Amazingly, I survived my Life

2005 REVIEW (PART ELEVEN)

March- Childersburg/Sylacauga, AL (continues)

It states on the label that accompanied each azalea plant: “Prune . . . right after blooming.” Milt was critical of Ronnie for pruning while a plant or flower was still active.
“Pruning later will limit the number of flowers” the label continues.
“Pruning later” is manipulating Nature for humankind’s benefit. As is a reliance on fertilizer: Milt, ironically, is “bullish” on fertilizing, yet insist that pruning shouldn’t be done while a plant or flower is still producing!
If one waters regularly, fertilizer is not needed, just as a proper diet cancels the need for vitamins in a human.
Earlier this week, Milt told me that the azaleas will bloom twice a year, I don’t think so! The leaves stay green the entire year, however: Which may have been the reason for their (the azaleas) take-over of the sidewalk planters in the first place! The plants I had in the ground didn’t have nice-looking Winter-wear!
The National Geographic Channel presented several episodes of NATURE’S NIGHTMARE yesterday evening. Between 8:00 and 9:00, there was “Coral Reef,” of which I saw about fifty-five minutes.
At 9:00, “Snakes Bite” appeared, although only for about twenty-five minutes for me.
I continue to study “Faust.” How did I ever get out of Modern Humanities not knowing what I know now?

(acerca de 3:22 P.M.) According to my records, what I am about to tell you occurred on Wednesday morning.
Or did it?
Joyce was explaining why Leslie and Bill won’t take Kayla to Disney World: The fear of a terrorist attack.
But a terrorist attack can happen at Callaway Gardens, can it not? Hell, living in such close proximity to the chemical weapons storage in Anniston is subject to terrorism, and one doesn’t even have to leave home!
As I have said over and over, the chances of a mugging and/or being murdered is/are moer likely than terrorism! But leave it to the Bush administration to scare people!
On the other hand, terrorists may jump at the chance to strike a blow if there was no diligence!
The terrorists have us just where they want us!
Remember, I told you - and I related the telling to Joyce - that Marvin and I had discussed Anniston.
And how about Redstone Arsenal/NASA in Huntsville? Why think only large crowds and Disney World are vulnerable?
Milt and I discussed Panama City, FL, one day this week down at the shop. Yes, Miracle Strip is still there!
This is Winter’s last day. Only nobody told It! The mid-50⁰’s (F); a chill; dreary “vibes” from the heavens, although Phoebus made a gallant effort earlier in the day;
Winter, it seems, has too much at stake to leave tomorrow!
The Bush administration “promises” to leave Iraq by 2006 or 2008. What do you know: How convenient that 2006 and 2008 are election years!
Thereby confirming what we all have known all along: The “war” is a campaign issue!

(acerca de 5:59 P.M.) Is the world really in a horrible shape? Or is it no worse or no better than it always has been?
There’s a tendency for people to accuse the world of being in a horrible shape if the courts interpret the Constitution in ways that is not pleasing to that particular person! Both liberals and conservatives are guilty of such whining!
Donna declared the world in a bad shape, one afternoon this week!
I noted that maybe, just maybe, democracy is inadequate for a country the size of the United States. Or would people that lived in a much smaller democratic country also declare the country in a horrible shape?
Maybe freedom is the freedom to feel unfree. (Please don’t ask me to explain that sentence!)

(20th, About 8;11 A.M.) It was one morning last week, I’m sure of that: Joyce come into the book store and “discussed” with Hazel the hit novel “The Two People You Meet In Heaven” (by Mitch Alban?). After articulating a synopsis of the best seller, she told of passing the novel to other C.A.C.C. staff (Patsy, Janice Stevens, etc).
I will be the first to admit that my rejection of organized religion and my serious questioning of a Deity, has been the major motivator of my spiritual growth.
One of Newton’s law’s should find an airing here: The one about an “equal and opposite reaction”!
If it has happened to me, it has happened to others! This is why religion - be it Islam, Judaism, Christianity, etc - must not be “allowed” to make humanitarian aid a “partner” of “conversion.”
I didn’t explain that as I had intended! But I will: You can count on that!

(acerca de 8:35 A.M.) Let’s see how much of this “event” I can remember: It was Tuesday or Wednesday. A female (followed shortly by her male friend) came into the book store and bought a couple of folders.
(Her male friend was to her left at the counter).
The female borrowed scizzors from Hazel: The female cut each folder into a “mat” that supported a research paper the female told Hazel was for Speech.
The Class was in 9-10 minutes (9:35?).
I told the female “We have construction paper.”, stuttering horribly on the ‘c” of “construction.”
All Hazel said - she was to my left - that “construction paper cost more.”
It was bad enough that I “checked out” MTV yesterday afternoon for the purpose of seeing college girls in almost-not-there swim suits, as Spring Break is publicly displayed, but to watch THE RELIC (8-10:00 P.M., SciFi), a cheap “horror” film! As if I don’t have anything better to do!

(acerca de 9:25 A.M.) it was early last week that I would get home from work only to find Deah in the chair I presently occupy!
She must not be too old and weak; She can still get up and down from a chair!
Deah leaves the “seat cushion” (a folded quilt) warm!
And it’s not only when I am at work that Deah takes over the chair: Many the time I “catch” her when I enter the room from a short extra-room trip to the restroom!
Although I do encourage the dog: I usually place her in the chair when I leave, and sometimes when I remain in the room to juggle!
I am back to relying on the mono head phones to bring the television’s audio to my ears! The “fancy” head set is too painful on my ears and intrude upon the “bows” of my glasses!
As you may remember, the mono head phones are small in diameter and each phone doesn’t take up the entire ear the way the “fancy” headphones do!
I didn’t associate colonoscopy with age before I was warned of lurking colon cancer! SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (10:30-midnight, N.B.C.) featured an opening “skit” about an Old Person automatically relying on colonoscopies!
But I am an Old Person, as much as I may fight it!
Do I watched SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE as a way of “spitting in the face” of Old? Yesterday evening I sat “through” the entire show, but I still find myself an Old Person this morning!

(acerca de 10:00 A.M.) Due to the increase in the price of gasoline, everything else is costing more.
So much for minimum wage determining the price of things!
NIGHTLY NEWS, ABC WORLD NEWS TONIGHT SATURDAY, most of the Democratic weekly radio address delivered by the governor of Pennsylvania (C-Span): Between 5:30 and 6:00 yesterday I studied without books!
5-6 minutes before THE RELIC, C-Span (or C-Span 2) presented a panel discussion, hosted by Joe Scarborough, of punditry.
Tuesday? Wednesday? Even Thursday? I was in the book store sitting in a chair/stool to the “left” of the door way to the book room, “discussing” with Milt, who was standing opposite me on the customer side of the counter, the female that was responsible for the Atlanta judge-killer turning himself in: There has been “rumors” of a possible criminal connection between the woman and the judge’s killer.

(acerca de 11:24 A.M.) Now I ask “you”: Why would Jim Veazey “allow” his son, Colton, to place a skate board ramp on the concrete driveway when the rest of the unused “second” lot is grassy and soft? It will make more sense if Colton and his playmates approached the ramp from the hard surface, and landed from a “jump” on the grass!
Although “more sense” is seldom used by Jim Veazey!
The across-the-street neighbor, Julie, may be moving: All indications point that way. So “you” have to wonder if the undisciplined Colton Veazey and his “friends” inspired the exodus: Colton would constantly invade the yard, exerting a bad influrence on Julie’s two young children!
One day Kayla “bragged” to me that she is a “toddler.” I don’t know who told her that, but at 6 years old, I think she is way beyond that designation!

(acerca de 3:14 P.M.) I can’t help but think that Glend Bland is treated as she is at C.A.C.C. - remember I told “you” that i overheard her whining to Hazel one morning concerning her job - is partly, if not wholly, her own fault: Her mind set probably expects a feedback that C.A.C.C. wouldn’t or can’t give to her!
Glenda Bland is not the only staff member of C.A.C.C. whose meglomania is not re-enforced by some illusionary force at C.A.C.C.!
Then again, I’m not directly involved in the day-to-day operations of C.A.C.C.! i may react in the same way Glenda is, if I were!
I “sealed” the clasps of four volumes of this journal earlier today, using silicone and fingernail polish, the latter mixed with Elmer’s glue. No one will be ableto causally “open” the volumes ever, I hope. Not that anyone would want to!
Why would anybody want to? Oh “God,” am I meglomanical?
This opening day of Spring is a disappointment: Where is Phoebus? It was here earlier, but now Overcast is keeping the area underwraps for Storm.
The mid-60⁰’s (F), moderate Wind.
Pro-choice must be included in an ownership society; A woman owns her body and if she wants an abortion for any reason, then she has to be given one on demand.
Have the advocates of an ownership society thought of this? I doubt it!

(acerca de 6:03 P.M.) It wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought! “You” have “yourself’: Why?
Why didn’t I read “Faust” when I was suppose to, in Modern Humanities during the Winter/Spring of 1998?
No doubt I was intimidated by “Faust”: From all accounts the “play” was made out to be a “whore”!
I blame Karen Laughlin, the so-called instructor!
Part I of “Faust” was written early in Goethe’s life. It wasn’t until fifty or more years later that a “sequel” was written, a “sequel” that became “Faust” Part II.
I completed what can be called “Faust,” earlier.
Why did Dr. Laughlin list a Part III of “Faust”? That’s how it was on a class schedule: It was I that brought it to her attention.
A typo? Yea, right!
Is one of the themes of “Faust,” that God can’t make it without the Devil? Does god receive Her/His power from the Devil?
In other words, does God have to “work around” the Devil?
Dr. Golden stated that the “Aeniid” may well be a satire of Rome under Augustus.
Dr. Darst claimed Machiavelli’s “The Prince” may just be one of many faux-guide books the author pen.
How tongue-in-cheek was Goethe when he wrote “Faust,” especially “Part I”?
It’s a shame that I didn’t ask that question twenty years ago or more!

(acerca de 7:03 P.M.) There’s one thing to keep someone artificially alive with machines! It’s another matter altogether to withhold a machine that will uphold life naturally!
I refer to the case of Terry Shiavo, the woman in Florida that is either in a “vegetative” state, or is severely mentally challenged, depending on how “you” look at it!
Or is there a difference? Is a machine supplying food and drink any different than a machine that animates the diaphragm, or kick starts the heart?
One group of “experts” claims Terry Shiavo is “brain dead,” while another group swears that she isn’t, solely due to the fact that she “responds” to her parents.
Far be it for me to “preach” medicine, but could not any response be a “conditioned response,” an automatic response to stimuli, just as a fertus does?
In other words, does Terry Shiavo know that she is responding?
It’s a tough call! Every issue has two or more sides to it!
The United States Congress becoming involved? That too is a “yes-no” for me!

(21st, About 6:12 A.M.) “The first act of Spring/was wiping the slate clean.
It’s not that Winter is old/but damn! it was Cold!”
I promise to do better next time, but that w__ my reaction to Rain yesterday evening.
By the time Deah and I went outside (a few minutes after 10:00 P.M.) Rain had installed Mist as Viceroy, and we only suffered a mild inconvenience.
I was reminded of the “poem” that I composed in reaction to Lake Michigan when Carson and Barnes Circus appeared in Sheboygan, WI: I forwarded the poem on to Steve Holt, who wrote me back that it was a great poem.
It wasn’t, by any standard! If Steve actually thought so, he was worse than me!
Terry Shiavo was awarded $1,000,000 for malpractice. If Mr. Shiavo (the husband) divorces Terry, he will lose out on a lot of money, even though he would be free to marry his lover, with whom he fathered a couple of children.
Of course money is at the core of the case! Just as politics are driving the Republicans to appropriate the case!
Republicans suppose to be states rights! So then why are they trying to activate the federal judiciary in the case, to overturn a state court that ruled the tubes (feeding and drinking) could be removed? The same reason the Republicans relied on the United States Supreme Court to establish George W. Bush in the White House in the first place!

(acerca de 6;45 A.M.) it was Thursday. Nathan Brackeen was telling Hazel that a form of hepatitis has been found at the school in Shelby County where his wife works as a Physical Therapist. Nathan expressed concern that the infected individual may vomit, and infect others.
The school is not revealing the name of the carrier. And it shouldn’t, if by doing so the child would be at risk for discrimination and “bullying”!
After Nathan departed, I ‘explained” to Hazel that one picks up the hepatitis virus (or whatever) directly in the blood stream, not through casual contact or via the air.
This reminds me of the male that claimed the Cook house of Carson and Barnes Circus gave him hepatitis: The Cookhouse was bad, no doubt about it, but why would only he contact hepatitis?
No, I believe the male (young) got a bad “piece of ass,” maybe not his wife’s, and he had to come up with a logical explanation for his hepatitis without revealing the real possible source.
The male was on the step/box before the serving window of the Cook house: i was to his right. It was late afternoon/

(acerca de 2:08 P.M.) I must admt: Donna had a good point!
Supposively, Terry Shiavo’s husband doesn’t believe in divorce. Yet, he has two children by another woman, meaning he has practiced - and continues to do so - adultery.
Can one not believe in divorce, yet see no problem with adultery?
Be consistent, ass-hole!
If the machine operating Lee Carpenter’s diaphragm was to be disconnected, he would be unable to breathe on his own, and would die.
It’s the same with Terry Shiavo: If not fed via a tube, she would starve to death.
An artificial diaphragm; a feeding tube; is there really any difference?
The United States Congress has “ordered” a review of Terry Shiavo’s condition. If Lee Carpenter’s eye lid muscles ever give out, Lee won’t be able to move any part of his body.
Will Congress determine Lee’s fate?
It’s a tough Call: No way is it a black and white issue!
Donna asked me my opinion of the case, as soon as I was off the bus.
I’m wondering why Bill or Leslie didn’t take up Kayla’s portable swimming pool last Fall: Joyce went to feed the animals before work this morning, and, while waiting in the car, I noticed that brackish water fills the pool.
What would it take, less than fifteen minutes, to deflate and fold the swimming pool?
No wonder holes develop in the pool! As Joyce stated, by the time Bill patches the holes in August, there won’t be but a week or two that Kayla will have to play in the pool!
Leslie and Bill are classic examples of the pernicious effects of organized religion!
It was A.B.C. WORLD NEWS TONIGHT SUNDAY first, and NBC NIGHTLY NEWS later, due to the March Madness basketball tournament: Between 5:30 and a few minutes after 6:00.
Imagine how Kayla will be as a teen-ager! Leslie and Bill will have strokes!
$2.15 for a pack of cigarettes from Allen’s Food Mart: “Smokes” have yet to fall victim to rising prices! Though I’m sure they will pretty soon!

(acerca de 2:50 P.M.) Is the city clerk position civil service?
Is Sandra Donuhoo, who has been city clerk for over twenty-five years, the unelected vice-mayor? Hell, is she, in actuality, the “mayor” and B.J. Meeks, the current elected mayor, the “vice-mayor”?
Donna and I “discussed” these and other issues about city government.
It was on for two hours, but I chose to watch only the first part: THE ULTIMATE SURVIVOR (8-10:00 P.M., National Geographic Channel). There is no guarantee that the data is correct, so I compromised, turning to CROSSING JORDAN (9-10:00 P.M., N.B.C.) at the half-way point.
Will THE ULTIMATE SURVIVAL re-air next Friday? I hope so!
A day of the upper-60⁰’s (F), wind, and bullying Clouds! Will it Rain as many people told me? I applied week-killer to the campus, so I wish Rain will take that into consideration!
I also washed the book store mats, then, as I returned them in 2-3 hours, joked with Hazel about not walking on them.
Remember high school and how the class was noisy when the teacher was away, but as soon as s/he came back, all became quiet? Well, that’s how the day is: When Phoebus is presence, Rain appears unlikey, but let Phoebus go elsewhere temporarily, then the day doesn’t look so good!

(acerca de 6:53 P.M.) Hazel gave me an “Easter” present. It was a small bag of chocolate candy.
Christianity took a fine, upstanding holiday - a celebration of Spring - and perverted it when it took the holiday over!
Nathan Brackeen came into the book store Thursday, with a partially-eaten apple in his hand.
It was for his blood sugar: Hazel informed me, today, that Nathan Brackeen suffers from diabetes.
Hazel told me that Nathan also was carrying a hypodermic needle Thursday.
This discussion of Nathan Brackeen followed my “lecture”” on boosting blood sugar sitologically: A candy bar won’t raise the blood sugar! A hamburger is the thing for it.
Prior to this, Hazel was “amazed” that I ate as many candy bars (from the “Easter” bag - small ones) as I did! I told her that walking eliminates candy and sweet as threats.
Leslie and Kayla came over around 5:10. It was about 6:50 that they left.
The three classrooms that will result from the renovation of Building “H” is fronted by a glass door and glass windows. The class rooms will share thiry-two computers.
Building “H” is at the “end” of the walking track. The walking track is opened to the public.
The walking track is used late at night for things other than walking: Use “your” imagination! I have found many an “out-of-place” item, if “you” know what I mean!
With no security, how long do “you” think those computers will stay with us?
Hazel stated today that parking decals are being considered. Such an idea is too logical for C.A.C.C., even though it could help solve the parking problem!

(22nd, About 6:11 A.M.) There’s one thing to be the unofficial “logistic Co-ordinator” at the book store: I’ll be go to hell if I open myself to charges of theft or mis-handling of funds!
On__ the mats dried yesterday I returned them to the bookstore. It was about 11:30.
Hazel asked me if I would “do” some check receipts. I washed my hands and I did.
Around 12:00 a female came in: She wanted to do some monetary transaction. But Hazel had gone to the business office, and I wasn’t about to do the transaction!
As “luck” would have it, Leisa McGaha came into the book store a few seconds behind the woman. While the woman was explaining her business, I kept staring at Leisa, to the woman’s right, about two or three feet separating them.
At first Leisa thought I was filling in for Hazel, including handling money. But soon Leisa requested the receipt book, and took care of the woman herself.
Leisa was looking for the receipt for “Professional Builders,” the company renovating Building “H.”
According to Joyce, Andy has requested a door from his office to the Joyce/Sheila suite, so that Joyce and Sheila will be a part of the business office. But has anyone ask Joyce and/or Sheila __ they/she want(s) to be part of the business offie? It “sounds” as if Joyce an/or Sheila have/has no say in the matter!
Yesterday morning I made the mistake of asking Joyce about Glenda Bland: It seems that Joyce think only white people are entitled to be racists!
Glenda Bland is a racist, we all know! And that could be her problem with the C.A.C.C. management!
But for Joyce to call anyone a racist! Being critical of “non-white” racists is racism itself!
Joyce has no idea of how it is to be discrimated against! I do: It is the reason I am at C.A.C.C.
Even the fairgrounds in Tallahassee, FL, discriminated against me!
Joyce is trying to use the fact that many slaves were made slaves in the first place by other Blacks, as a “justification” for slavery and white racism!

(acerca de 6:47 A.M.) As the paid advisor to the Cultural Unity Organization, it was bad enough that Glenda Bland neglected a special observation of Martin Luther King’s birthday anniversary (the program at the nursing school was not for King, in spite of what Joyce thinks), but this year marks the sixieth anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp!
The C.U.O. is multi-culture, not bi-cultural (or uni-cultural)! Even a middle-age single man with “funny” speech should find a home in the C.U.O.!
This is what I have against Glenda Bland!
I probably shouldn’t told Joyce that slavery was economic! It sounds as if I am excusing racial hatred!
There were Black slave-owners, which again no way exonerate the guilt of the white race!
At six, Kayla has much better penmanship than I do! I’m not just saying that because she’s my grand-niece! Anyone will tell you what I told you!
Is it really any difference in the parents to deny therapy to Terry Shiavo, as I have been told, therapy that may have be fruitful all these years, and the death “decision” the husband has for Terry Shiavo?
One has to wonder if this kind of manipulation of life occurs often! If so, Congress should, indeed, “step In”!
In the case of Betty Veazey: Betty suffered mental retardation. It is my understanding that her family with-held medication from her, allowing her to die with dignity.

(acerca de 1:11 P.M.) Amazingly, Eric followed through on his “promise” of yesterday: There were a “mound” of pine straw bales in the shop when I arrived this morning!
I had “whined” that the azaleas in the sidewalk planters and elsewhere needed “pine strawing,” or whatever was to be done to “dress” them up.
Milt and the inmates has lately been collecting pine straw from the wooded area in the center of the walking track. But what Eric provided - 100 bales - is “clean” pine straw, fresh from the store!
To tell you the truth, I didn’t believe that Eric would do it, when he stated to me at “his” shop - we were both standing, I had just applied weed killer around campus - that he would buy some pine straw! Can “you” blame me?
I spread about six bales around the azaleas of the sidewalk planters and in the rock garden that parallels the loading dock. When I told Hazel later, she was shocked that Eric actually worked: I “explain that he was probably trying to out-work me. And/or possibly Eric found out that Ms. Salatto also considers the plants and flowers on campus important, and wants to be a “star,” as I may be with many of staff!
No wonder C.S.I.: MIAMI was the #1 Monday evening show: it had no competition to speak of! But all that has changed: MEDIUM (9-10:00 P.M., N.B.C.) no doubt takes many viewers from C.S.I.: MIAMI! As it should!
MEDIUM is a well-written, well-produced, well-acted program, deserving of the #1 spot!
54¢ for a green gel-ink writing pen from the book store. Plus, I borrowed, without Hazel being aware, a used copy of “Western Literature in a World Context,” volume II: The text includes Acts I and V of Part II of “Faust.” I can fill in the “missing” acts with a copy from the downtown library.

(acerca de 1:54 P.M.) Should kids be allowed to use and/or carry Cell phones during school hours? That’s the issue Hazel and I “discussed” after she read about the school shooting in Minnesota.
After the shooting at Columbine High School in 1999, the prohibition against cell phone in school was relaxed.
My “argument” is that it is cell phones that has made violence in the schools almost commonplace: The advancement of technology that has made cell phones possible, has made the access to weaponry easier!
Bullying “inspires” school violence? That’s too convenient of an answer! As a victim of bullying, of course it contributes! But the shooter or shooters is/are probably only looking for an excuse, and victimhood of bullying is within easy reach!
“Where were you when I needed you!/Where were you when I wanted you!”
As I told Mary (my bus driver today), what “you” have is a contest between Winter and Spring - Cold and Warm - in the “heavens.”
Spring - Warm - wants Winter - Cold - off the island!
An inpending storm pushed me “through” the door of the book store. And Rain, along with Thunder and Lightning, never let me leave!
It sounded as if the book store was under a dance studio!
Donna’s implication yesterday was that the truth of the Terry Shiavo case, including the intervention by Congress, won’t be know until history writes it up!
Phylis Jew gave Hazel a chocolate rabbit for “Easter,” complete with a religious message.
I’m wrong: The chocolate was in the shape of a Christian cross!
I told Hazel that I didn’t care if the chocolate was a swastika, I would eat it!
Hazel is not shocked by my negative hints of organized religion: Joyce must have prepared her!

(acerca de 4:27 P.M.) For the last 2-3 weeks, Hazel has been whining that Amy (Rodgers) has accused her (Hazel) of not surrendering check receipts to Amy! Or something Hazel doesn’t do involving Amy!
Well, this morning while stapling checks receipts to invoices (?), I came upon a check that was suppose to have gone to Russell Corporation - the makers of C.A.C.C. clothes sold by the bookstore - last October! Naturally Hazel rushed to Amy, as if to say, “Nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah! You are the one making the mistakes, not me!”
Jokingly, I told Hazel before she went to Amy’s office, not to mention my name!
William Shakespeare is the modern era as Seneca was to the Renaissance!
A recent book by Andrew Gurr relates Shakespeare to the social/political/cultural/erc life of late-16 and early-17th centuries London, in a book “The Shakespeare Company.”
Of course, there was no William Shakespeare during the Italian Renaissance, so it’s really to compare pre-Shakespeare and post-Shakespeare.
But did people of, say, 1427 hold up Seneca as a symbol of “culture’ as Shakespeare is today?

(acerca de 6:19 P.M.) This morning in the shop I was discussing with Marvin the invitation and temptation Building “H” will offer people, what with the glass doors and two large windows! Keep in mind that more than thirty-two computers will be installed in weeks to come.
It would be a simple matter for a thief or thieves to go into the building.
Marvin pointed out (he and I were standing) that a person intent on stealing would break into the building, no matter how much security there is.
I then told Marvin that terrorist/Al Qaeda will succeed with a terrorist act, in spite of the administration’s best efforts (pretend anyway)!
Before I leave “you” until the morning I must tell “you” that I watched a report on - what else? - the Terry Shiavo case on MSNBC a few minutes previous to the MEDIUM.

(23rd, About 6:10 A.M.) I hope Ronnie Harkins respects law more than he did C.A.C.C.!
I have stated to Hazel several times that Eric is like he is due to Ronnie Harkins!
The fact that I am even at C.A.C.C. should tell “you” something! Ronnie was using his position at C.A.C.C. as a personal “power base”! Ronnie “gave” me a job out of some pathological “urge” for power via altruism!
As is too often the case, I am unable to pen exactly what I have mentally formulated. But I just know that there’s a connection between my presense at CACC, and the dysfunctional management!
Hazel told me that yesterday, Roy Johnson’s (the chancellor) nephew or hired painter (maybe the same person) was commenting on the fact that it was un-necessary for Eric, Mike, and Michael to “install” sheetrock on the walls that are to be painted, in the Cafeteria and fronting the bookstore.
The painter had other criticisms of Eric.
The wasteful sheet rock is a classic example of Eric being able to “talk the talk” but not being fit to "talk the talk": He makes an outward show of knowing what he is doing, but has no idea __ to go from outward signs that impress some people!
The “ditch-digger syndrome” at its best! You know, a person that is more concerned about the placement of her/his hands as an outward show, then s/he is to dig the ditch!
I was telling Hazel about my “showdown” with Leisa Monday over taking a female’s money, yesterday. Hazel informed me that Leisa is well aware that I “don’t do money”! In other words, Leisa was probably “checking” to see if Hazel was correct when she told her (Leisa) about my connection to the book store.
Pruning plants or flower while they are actively producing stimulates growth. So maybe the “wives tale” concerning hair is true: For years I have been told that the more “you” cut “your” hair, the longer and thicker it will grow.
You have to wonder, then: Why isn’t this a “cure” for baldness?
Shaving must then be a stimulus for facial hair more than it is depiliation!
Milt has ceased wearing a cap: A folk theory that he must have heard has it out that wearing a cap causes baldness. The heat, the wiggling, no air: All three and more are “accused” of stealing hair. But baldness is not that simple!

(acerca de 6:52 A.M.) It was last Thursday, while sitting before a computer, that Hazel stated to me that, twenty years ago, she couldn’t imagine what technology would turn into! If ‘you” think this is something, Hazel, you should have been around from about 1880 to about 1920! Technology really took off! The internet, cell phoned, faxing, etc, “ain’t” nothing compared to telephones, flying machines, moving pictures, etc!
The wall “around” the closet of the Joyce/Sheila suite has been made bare: Yesterday, at least, the insulation has been exposed, creating a health risk. I doubt if even removing the “bats” will help: Too much of the fiberglass have escaped __ ___ air by _ace!

(acerca de 1:23 P.M.) “he use to lay crossties (railroad track); now he lays his wife!” It’s the best I can remember after more than fifteen years: Ernie Miller, a retired high school history teacher said about Brad Jewel, the “lion trainer” with Carson and Barnes.
I have pine straw all morning . While in the south- rock garden behind the administration building, Ms. Salatto, on her way into the building, stated “It looks like somebody cares!” or words to that effect. Maybe it was a compliment, but if it wasn’t, why didn’t Ms.Salatto have the rock garden covered months ago?
Eric, who played the “pushy boss” today, telling me twice - once when I first got to work and was enjoying a pre-work cigarette, and then again around 12:15 - was critical of the “thick” application.
Pine straw is suppose to be laid thick! The needles will settle, once the air escapes!
Milt, who is “scared” of Eric, parrotted Eric’s remark down at the shop.
There are a hundred bales of pine straw: And all “they’ are worried is the amount of pine straw I use!
The ____ will celebrate Easter tomorrow: Should a place that receives federal funding - directly or indirectly - highlight a Christian holiday and not the holy days of other religions?
Steve Holt contacted me by telephone yesterday evening around 5:40, or so: He was under the impression that I was off work during Spring Break!
When he found out that I had a tree-day weekend most of the time, he suggested we (he, Mary, and I, and maybe Martin) go hiking in Childersburg some Friday or Saturday.
He was in Birmingham.
We “discussed” the fact that I received benefits, but only worked part-time.
Speaking of which: Joyce told me several months ago that it may have been Eric that had whined to Andy or Leisa about me putting in more than twenty hours a week, Yet he seemed puzzled that I was leaving at 12:30!
I saw most of THE NEWSHOUR WITH JIM LEHRER (5:30-6:25 P.M., P.B.S.) yesterday evening: At least forty-five minutes. And for the third time in recent times, I saw “The Elegant Universe” (7-8:30 P.M.), a fund-raiser for the Alabama Public Television, a part of the NOVA series. Each viewing brings me nearer to actually understanding basic physics. Notice I wrote “nearer”: I could use a bunch more times in front of the program!
Steve invited me to Martin’s reading of an original story - he is a creative writing student at the Alabama High School for (or of) the Arts - Friday evening.
I have a problem with the arts school: Hazel and I “discussed” one day that many more kids are “gifted’ than are labelled such. And many students deserve exposure to the arts besides the chosen few!
Why fund exclusively?

(acerca de 2:15 P.M.) The more that happens, the longer it takes for me to review my day, and write notes. So give me a day or two, and “you” will be brought up to date.
A week ago Monday - hell no, it was this past Monday, the 21st of March - I “explained” to Donna that one must “keep on top” of things: One can’t just plant flowers or buy a state-of-the art “machine” and then leave it to itself! One must constantly weed or provide upkeep!
I think the bus was passing the “old” cemetery at the time!
The lower-60⁰’s (F) and sunny made for a fine day for a “lay.” Too bad the “lay” was only pine straw!
It is the first real Spring day since Spring took over from Winter: Yesterday evening must have scared Winter into hiding, what with the demonic Lightning and Thunder!
What the hell, why not JUDGING AMY (9-10:00 P.M., C.B.S.) yesterday evening: I like to spread my support around!
Not only that, this is what a lot of people watch, so it’s a study of modern anthropology! (Yea right!)

(acerca de 4:42 P.M.) The more I think about it, I question if there were really a hundred bales of pine straw in the shop! Although Eric may have used a “hundred” to signify a lot.
In addition to Ms. Salatto, many well-dressed males (late-40’s/early-50’s) converged on C.A.C.C. this morning. A meeting of the minds? In that case, I’m sure the meeting didn’t last long!
Was this the reason Eric was so “pushy” today, trying to impress the “power people”?
It was a good day for laying pine straw, I guess: Eric has his way of impressing people, and I have mind.
While talking with Steve, Alabama Public Television re-aired the ‘60’s music special. Sometimes one shouldn’t re-visit the past: Let the Past remain as It was.
The singers from the ‘60’s: Fond memories can be destroyed with an “update”!

(acerca de 8:44 P.M.) It was around 7:47 when Kayla left with her parents, Leslie having brought her over around 4:45.
Steve and Mary visited this evening. In fact, they only left a few minutes ago.
Marvin “promised” to provide me with a dump-truck full of top soil for the hill/bank, but I have been talking that “down”: The reason that the hill/bank is denuded is due to the slant not allowing water to soak into the ground.
Milt told me this morning that work men did something with heavy machinery that resulted in the dirt becoming an unwelcomed guest in his yard.
The topsoil Marvin said he could get is the ground work being done behind the video store (Blockbuster) and convenient on the highway (280).

(24th, About 6:14 A.M.) Several months ago, in answer to my inquiry, Milt informed me that grass didn’t grow at the base of the courtyard wall and the wall south of it, across the sidewalk (near building “C”) due to limited sun. At the time I believed him. However, yesterday I laid pine straw on the mud “patch” on the south portion, and on the muddy area on the north section that is f___ of tree limbs that Milt and the inmates should have taken away: Milt use the excuse that the ground is too “giving” because of the rain. But is there some reason why the inmates can’t drag the limbs to the waiting pick-up on the concrete sidewalk?
Anyway, I have a pretty good idea that grass “stays away” because water attacks peroidically. Pure and simple.
We soon will know. It’s the same reason grass has picketted the hill/bank for years and years, and why leaves are much better than top soil, the latter joining the grass in being unable to resist the combined force of water and gravity!
Steve believe that the administration was interested in imposing democracy, all along. I argued that oil was the motive for invading Iraq.
Steve may be right! At least the administration’s version or interpretation of democracy.
It was said that the Vietnam War were to prevent the “domino effect” in Southeast Asia: That is, the United States declared pubically that if Vietnam “fell” to communism, other countries in the area would.
To an extent, the United States has a reversed “domino effect” in its foreign policy: It could truly be truly be trying to democatize Iraq, hoping that other countries in the area will join the team voluntarily.
But will the policy work?
Tuesday Mary (bus driver) pointed out to me where Donna lived: In the rear of the former Stacy Flower Shop. Donna was off-work that day: Was Mary pushing me to have an affair with Donna, or am I only mis-interpreting Mary’s innocent remark?

(acerca de 6:48 A.M.) Steve also has a good point - I’m sure he read or heard this from some outside source - that the Democrats are in a long-term minority status due to Lyndon Johnson: When Johnson applied his signature, he more or less yielded the South to the Republicans.
But did LBJ really believe what, in essence, came to pass?
Explaining myself in stating that Lincoln and Roosevelt were, I forgot what exactly I called them, but, once I had established tihat “Roosevelt” was “Franklin,” I “explained” about J. Philip Randolph and the 1941 interview with FDR, in which he (Randolph) threatened a March on Washington if FDR didn’t give up some of the “White Supremacy” policies. No doubt they - or at least Steve - was aware of that moment in time.
Just as it is a fact of life that, if Roosevelt hadn’t sacrificed the African-Americans, a social good such as Social Security wouldn’t have happened.
Is that democracy: Denying freedom to many so that the few can benefit? It seems to me as if that is - well, something other than democracy!
Is the United States the one to display its form of democracy to the Arab World?
The Senior Center is off tomorrow, the Christian holy day of “Good Friday”? If so, how is that legal? The Senior Center receives federal funding.

(acerca de 1:52 P.M.) It was doing so well! But come 1:45 or so, I reached the conclusion that the bus wasn’t coming unless I made a telephone call.
I almost didn’t know the number!
Not only was the bus late - did Donna forget me again? - but Amy (my last-resort driver) was very xenophobic: I made the casual remark that gasoline is expensive, and Amy declared her hatred for Arabs. According to her, she would as soon trust a rattlesnake!
Factually, the price of oil has nothing to do with the Arabs: The massive increase in consumption - China’s moderization is blamed - drives the price of gasoline up!
And even if the law of supply and demand didn’t “carry the day” with the cost of petroleum (which is doubtful), the price of gasoline is not that simply as to put the responsibility on the Middle East: Arabs are convenient “scape goats”!
Amy exclaim, “Greed!”. I told her everybody is greedy to an extent (we were on Forest Hills Drive by this time).
Then Amy began to “quote” prophecy that is supposively in the Bible (as if the bible means anything)! She failed to see theat xenophobia contributes to the “end of this world”!
It’s not money is the root of all evil: It’s “the love of money is the root of all evil”!
I can’t figure out why, after all these years, Donna and/or her husband hasn’t/haven’t enlarge her/their house to include more of the former flower shop! And why the store front still reads “Stacy’s Flower Shop”!
It may have been yesterday, or it may have been Monday: Donna told me that the police had business with one of the employees at McDonald’s. She described the scene, but I really don’t listen to the driver, whenever it if “behind the wheel”!
As he should, Steve was critical of the probable possibility of drilling in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge. He and I discussed how, #1, supply of oil is very limited; and that, by principle, it shouldn’t be done.
I pointed out to him that hisand Mary’s car was parked in front of the house, the implication being that drilling in ANWR is necessary so those opposed to drilling in the ANWR can by!
The only television yesterday evening was LAW & ORDER (9-10:00 P.M., N.B.C.). Unless “you” want to count the commercial that played on the Family Room television, before Leslie left Kayla “behind” temporarily around 5:45, of “snap on” teeth: These false teeth are whiter and could very well mean the end of extensive dental work!

(acerca de 2:56 P.M.) Florida governor Jeb Bush and other out-and-out supporters of Terry Shiavo are setting a bad precedent by ignoring Florida law that states the spouse has the final “word” on keeping her/his mate on life-sustaining machines!
Why have laws, then?
Terry Shiavo is not “brain dead”: She responds automatically, as a reflex response, the her parents, in the same way that a fetus does. If she was brain dead, she couldn’t even do that!
Is Terry Shiavo in a persistent vegetative state, as many physicians affirm?
Joyce was confusing brain dead with PVS yesterday evening.
As far as I am concern, a feeding tube is no different than, say, a machine that breathes for a person! But whether I would want all life support systems removed, I just don’t know!
Joyce also said something about if the feeding tube is with-held from Terry Shiavo and she is allowed to die, then Dr. Kervokian (?), the physician that offers suicide assistance until he was convicted of “encouraging” suicide, should be set free.
There’s a major difference: Dr. Kervorkian (?) may have broken the law, whereas Mr. Shiavo has the law behind him!
Spring is coming into Its own: Today has been the low-70⁰’s (F)! But as I told Amy, Cold could return anytime without warning within the next 3-4 weeks!
Phoebus dropped much yellow on us, and continues to do so. It was a “perfect” day for Milt and the inmates to have removed the tree limbs from the “field” behind the administration building!
Of course it didn’t happen! At least not by 12:30!
A gorgeous blue sky, with nary a Cloud visible!

(acerca de 7:35 P.M.) I don’t know how to interpret what Marvin told me this morning: He “agreed” with me that pine straw should be laid thickly, because the weather - especially rain - will smooth the covering out.
It has been my experience that when Marvin “agrees” with me, it is nothing but patronization.
In order to wait on U.P.S., I pulled my wagon to the southwest “apron,” in order to lay pine straw - in the wagon - while on look-out.
There was still a third or so of the garden “strip” that borders the restraining wall behind the loading dock, to cover with pine straw.
As soon as I arrived at the apron, I heard my name called: It was Eric. He pointed to the “strip” and said something, most likely wondering why I was leaving the “strip” uncovered.
Coming nearer to each other, I stated to Eric that I was waiting on U.P.S.
I’m really not clear on what’s going on with Eric and the reason or reasons that he won’t leave me alone, as for the pine strawing! Maybe I shouldn’t have asked him about the pine straw Monday!
I only reap what I sowed!
It was about 3:35 when Kayla arrived here with Joyce.
Four hours, Kayla went home with her father.
The “husband” on the MEDIUM whined about having charge of his kids when his wife went on business trips. At first I thought how insulting the “husband’ is to a father: But then i remember that the show is no doubt “pitched” and “geared” to women. And there’s nothing wrong with that!

(25th, About 7:19 A.M.) It may not mean anything to “you,” but I located my rubber gloves, after having “indirectly” accused the inmates of not returning them to their rightful place, after using them.
The gloves were “hiding” in one of the former flower pots that serves me as a trash collector and dirt carrier.
Marvin hinted that I would find the gloves at one of my work sites: The vase was in the shop.
The rubber gloves protected my hands while I laid pine straw. Wednesday, a “sharp” needle had pricked me on my right thumb, drawing blood.
You see, the work gloves I rely on have the index and pointer “fingers” loped off at the “second” joint to allow me to pick up things, smoke, etc,
Having heard Hazel whine so much about the service and food at Whisker’s restaurant, I just knew the eating place went out of business. But when I asked Hazel Monday or Tuesday if Whisker’s had gone out-of-business, she reacted as if I had asked a stupid question, stating that, among others, Leisa had no problem with the restaurant.
When Leslie was over here with Kayla Wednesday evening, she and Joyce were joking somehow about using a jack hammer to tend a flower that had been “planted” in concrete. An artificial flower, of course.
Joyce,Leslie, and I also joked about a receipe for bourbon-glazed ham (?): The glazer drinks the bourbon in our variation of the receipé.

(acerca de 8:13 A.M.) Wednesday evening, as we sat at the kitchen table, Steve asked me what I had read or was reading. I stated “Faust”: Both he and Mary (to my left; I was sitting in Joyce’s usual place) were impressed.
Softly, I told Mary and Steve that the novel is written by Mitch Alban.
Mary and Steve discussed another book by Mitch Alban and a film made of that book.
Tuesday, Hazel informed me that Faulkner University offered a program leading to a Bachelor’s degree, in the evenings. Since Faulkner University is a private, sectarian college, is C.A.C.C. renting space, giving Faulkner a “sweetheart deal”?
Is it legal for a public educational institution to support a religious school?
Are Faulkner students taking the nursing books I put out at the nursing building, which is doubling as Faulkner University, Childersburg Campus? If so, I may be guilty.
Of course, I don’t want to help religion in any way, shape, or form! Purchasing Girl Scout cookies was bad enough!
When I asked Hazel if she was or is going for a Bachelor’s degree, she exclaimed that a degree means nothing at C.A.C.C.!
You know, she’s right! Although I suspect there’s a lot of laziness in Hazel avoidance of “advance” training!
Wednesday evening, Kayla told of her mother’s “slipping” her (Kayla) some cheese. She (Kayla) reacted adversely to it.
Why did Leslie do that? Does she resent Kayla’s allergy to cheese?

(acerca de 9:28 A.M.) Isn’t it ironic that the people who preach that obedience to the law and would have no doubt been supported of slavery, are “demanding” that the Florida state law and the courts be ignored in the Terry Shiavo case?
I probably saw more C.N.N. news that I did of THE NEWSHOUR WITh JIM LEHRER (5:30-6:25 P.M., P.B.S.) yesterday evening! And even then no more than fifteen minutes of the combined forces!
THE OFFICE (8:30-9:00 P.M., N.B.C.) is o’kay, but I can’t “see” how a long-running series can be sustain with the documentary approach! Although the satire of the work place and a boss may very well resonate with everyone that works in an office, in the same way that the comic strip “Dibert” does!
Last Tuesday, Hazel told me that Ms. Salatto interviewed applicants for the librarian job at C.A.C.C.: Elaine Greer, the current “book care taker,” is soon to retire.
I was confused as to why the acting president was directly involved. But Joyce answered my concerns the very next morning: The top three candidates were “grilled” by Ms. Salatto.
The hiree must have a Master’s degree in what use to be library science, but is now “information technology,” due to the research students and library patrons do on-line.C
Mary informed me that she now uses the computers at the library downtown: Listing Casey Holt’s address, Mary even has a library card from the Rainwater Library.
In response to my declaration that the Alabama School of the Arts’s publically-funded exclusivity, Steve stated that the University of Alabama was also a publically-funded exclusive organization.
Martin, as “you” recall, is a creative writing student at the Fine Arts school. He won a position via an audition.
However, some people are not good at auditions, but great writers, dancers, singers, etc.
I remember a female, “large” for her age, taking legal action against the school, because she was rejected for the dance program.
The Alabama School of the Arts is not a “professional” training “camp.” All benefit by dance training!
Only if dance if offered by every school in the area should the Fine Arts school discriminate!
My usual Thursday evening television: Two back-to-back episodes of THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART (10-10:30; 10:30-11:00 P.M., Comedy Central).

(acerca 11:19 A.M.) “Speaking” in very broad terms, the Iraq “war” is justified on national secuity grounds in the same way that the Viet nam war was in the United States’ vital interest: With the former, the United States - or the Bush administration - are certain (as Steve Holt feels) that democratizing the Arab World will prevent future “9/11’s”, as well as “solve” the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, whereas in the latter a few people in the Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon administrations that actually felt that, if Vietnam goes communist, the rest of Southeast Asia will follow.
This hasn’t been the case; neither will terrorism lessen if the Arab World is transformed!
When I discussed the fact of Eric pruning the trees behind the loading dock at the same time that I was laying pine straw, Tuesday - I told Joyce Hazel’s shocked reaction Wednesday morning - Joyce stated that Eric was only trying to impress Ms. Salatto rather than outwork me, as I told Hazel. Maybe Joyce was correct: I, after all, have been known to be meglomanical!

(acerca de 3:52 P.M.) A free tetanus “shot”?
Hold on a minute: The bus fare, to and from Sylacauga was four dollars, much cheaper than a “regular” (Greyhound) bus: About two gallons of gasoline.
The only problem was the forty-five minute wait at the public Health Department in Sylacauga. Which is another reason for telling Donna that my other appointment - a check-up from Dr. Bowers, to “see” if the cataracts in my eyes have “grown” worse - was at 2:00, when in fact it was for 2:30.
Dr. Bowers keep an “eye” (no pun intended) on the development of the cataracts.
$20 co-pay for the cataract-watch.
As I told Donna, the rest of my life, I will be monitoring both “ends” of me: My cataracts and my colon. I explained to Mary and Steve - we were in the front yards, the Holts preparing to leave - that a transfer to another 2-year (or 4-year) college, will probably be confined to Alabama, unless I can take PEEHIP to another state.
I was hoping that I could make the return trip with Joyce, Leslie, Kayla, and granny: They visited David in Montgomery, and their return would bring them via Sylacauga.
The back seat would have to handle granny and me, in addition to Kayla’s “special” chair. But that was the plan yesterday evening, after Joyce explained the situation.
However, this morning, at the kitchen table, Joyce declared that her car may “malfunction,” and that I should hire the bus to get me home. So I called the bus “station” to reserve a ride on: I had told Amy yesterday that I wouldn’t need a round-trip. I had stated such to Donna earlier, also.
You know what? Donna stayed with me all afternoon, just like a personal driver! For the Health Department is about two miles from Dr. Bowers’ office.
Donna had dialysis patients to transport back to Childersburg, but I was done for the day before the scheduled pick-up, so I was brought home “independently.”
It was obvious that Joyce really didn’t want to meet me in Sylacauga, but agreed yesterday evening only because I had physically reacted “strangly” when she had told me about the crowded car that would result: I was sitting in the rocking arm chair, and started rocking rapidly in response to the “rejection”!
Joyce had even asked Bill didn’t he think granny and me would “fit” in the back seat of her car.
Well, it’s academic now: I’m back home!
What a lovely day it has been and continues to be; The upper-70⁰’s and lower-80⁰’s (F); massive solar intervention!
Clear; a burnt-blue sky!
In spite of the Christian take-over of this day, it is truly a Good Friday!
The Confederate Memorial Day next month: Give me a break! Isn’t it time that the South let go of the past?
The Health Department will observe the “special” day. What a bad loser the South is!

(acerca de 7:27 P.M.) If only I can remember to keep them high! Eye-level, at least!
I had the clubs out for a spin this morning: Around twenty-five minutes. I wasn’t doing too badly, as long as I kept then high!
Only then did I apply flea powder to Deah! It makes “you” wonder why I didn’t powder Deah pre-juggling instead of post-juggling!
As luck would have it, I was home this afternoon about two hours before Kayla, Joyce, and granny arrived home: I was able to walk Deah, write a long entry in this journal, practice ball-juggling, read, things I would have had to sacrificed if I had waited on Joyce!
Why is Good Friday doing this to me, of all people?

(26th, About 8:28 A.M.) Things were a lot different yesterday: An interruption of sleep result in a terrible headache!
Or was it the other way round?
The headache encircled my head! My awareness was way down!
For instance, my attention drifted while Donna “explained” something while on the way to Sylacauga yesterday. Although that may not be the fault of the headache!
The Club-juggling yesterday morning apparently made my muscles vulnerable to the trickery of Sleep: This morning I slept - or was in bed - to after 8:00!
In addition, my body is nicely sore, letting me know that I did something right yesterday.
Removing a brain-damaged’s person’s respirator does not necessarily lead to the death of that person: Case in point, Karen Ann Quinton (?) __ the ‘80’s and/or ‘90’s. But when the feeding tube is dismissed, death is definite!
The lungs could provide needed air, but without food or drink, one can’t go back.
As Dr. Bowers and I discussed yesterday, cataracts only go one way: They can not improve, because the body only goes one way, no matter how much a person may think s/he has improved since her/his past.
Steve “threw” a subtle hint “across” the table Wednesday evening: Mary and I can’t agree on anything. Which is probably the reason my “friendship” with Steve and Mary has been lukewarm the past twenty years or so!

(acerca de 9:09 A.M.) I stated that Mary and I agree that the elimination of carbohydrates from one’s diet will lead to problems.
I was reluctant to be too critical of religion because both of them - especially Mary - are associated with organized religion, flimsy though the association may be! I told Mary that I didn’t want to step on anybody’s toes: She responded with “If you step on my toes . . .” or something like that.
For whatever reason, I chose to “show-off” for Donna as the bus was returning to Childersburg yesterday afternoon: I explained that Bach, a church organist, fathered 23 (?) children, though not with the same woman.
Johann Bach was a church organist, but it was ___ that had so many children.
Yes, he was a “skirt-chaser”!
Bach, Jr, was “pushed” by his mother, who resented the extra-marital affairs of her husband, into composing “Blue Danube” and out-shinning the father. In reality, Johann Strauss, Jr, wrote “On the Beautiful Blue Danube” due to his mother’s insistence.
Was there something in the tetanus vaccination that made me so loquacious? I had to explain that “loquacious” means talkative.
Was Amy on some kind of drug Thursday that made her so loquacious? Donna and many others suspect she was.
It had been on Wednesday that Donna “explained” to me that watching the severe weather “marathon” on television brought many towns to her attention, names she had never heard before.
That made me joke with her: What do you call people that live in Lick Skillet?
There is a section of Six Flags Over Georgia know as “Lick Skillet,” Donna told me.
I stated to Donna that my nephew, as a weatherman, has to know all those tiny towns in Alabama!

(acerca de 11:0_ A.M.) Against my better judgement, the Health Department building in Sylacauga bears an uncanny resemblance to the one in Clanton, the place where I had my vision examed for disability, in the summer of 2000 (?). I rather nothing remind me of that period in my life!
The nurse that “shot” me yesterday warned me that my left arm - the arm that received the tetanus shot - might be sore for a day or two. It’s not really sore, but it is obvious that something happened up there!
I probably saw forty-five minutes of THE NEWSHOUR WITh JIM LEHRER (5:30-6:25 P.M., P.B.S.) yesterday evening. The major story Need I tell “you”? Terry Shiavo, of course!
Most of the patrons at the Health Department yesterday were women with small children. I told this to Donna.
On the trip to Childesbug, Donna started to make the comment that “those kinds of women have kid after kid, and ‘we’ (the taxpayers) end up supporting the kids!”
Actually she right, but, not to let Donna complete the undemocratic remark, I “explained” about the movie JOE starring Peter Boyd (?): The film is a satire on just . . . (continued)
