Bloodlines to my Grandmother's House

I find myself thinking of my Grandparents a lot, especially my Grandmother, she was/is an Angel. The most important thing is that my Grandmother and Grandfather were freed slaves, I can't remember the existing conditions when she informed me and she didn't have to tell me to make sure the rest of the family would know. I can't recall the place or time I learned this revelation, I do remember what she said, specifically...."The man who owned me was my Grandfather!" This revelation seems to suggest that my Grandfather would also have come from that plantation, but I speculate because my Grandmother never mentioned my Grandfather in that conversation. Being at my Grandmother's was a necessity for me, it would prove to be everything I would ever need or want, Her home was a place of wonder with aromas from the kitchen/surprise because we (all the relations) rarely announced our presence before heading there, she would sit (quietly) with my Grandfather for the bulk of the day, unless one of us got out of line. My Father called my Grandmother, "Doll", no idea why; he loved her and would do whatever she asked of him. My Aunt Pat would be bedridden, during one of my last summers there, at some point she would come out of her bed and room; she came into the living room and announced she was going back to sleep. I thought it odd because she'd been in her bed all day, I thought she was suffering a migraine, I suffer them and sleep is what I would rush to for an end to the pain. Not sure if I was the only one that heard her say "goodbye", she returned to her bed and her Lord that day, I didn't return to my Grandmother's for quite some time (after that) and I don't remember my Aunt's funeral. Life would go on, no idea what I got into after that, probably found more reasons to get lost in my head in the park.
