Paints came in

The oil paint I ordered came in last week. I received 23 - 37ml (1.25oz) tubes and one 150ml tube (of Titanium White). They are all Grumbacher brand which I have always liked. I have used many different brands but Grumbacher Pre-tested professional oils are my favorite. I like them because they have a decent amount of pigment, they spread nice (I like the texture of the paint) on the canvas, and are middle of the road when it comes to price. I have paintings done with Grumbacher paints from 20 years ago that still hold up excellent in color.
Anyway, I strapped a table easel onto the rack of my bike (i used a small locking strap from Walmart), grabbed some paints and a canvas and took off for the nearest mountain. After awhile, I found a nice flat spot overlooking a meadow (kind of) and ponderosa pines all over. Behind that in the distance was my town and farther out were mountains (part of the Rocky Mountains). I did not even have to unstrap the easel. Just opened it and started painting.
That sounds pleasant enough but it was also a reminder of what not to forget. I was so focused on bringing main things needed for outdoor painting I totally forgot to take a few pieces of painters tape (I use the blue stuff) and slap them on the side of my easel. Well, the wind picked up in gusts on and off the whole time. My bike easel worked like a charm but I was using a paper pallet for my paints and it kept (when I forgot to hold it down with my thumb) blowing the top sheet with my paints on it over onto my hand. lol Now...that is really not a big deal but I thought I would mention it. You see, I should have remembered. I used to paint outside all the time and wind can be pretty bad if not paying attention. I have seen stands with pictures in frames with glass on the front blow all the way over and break many of them. I have had my whole easel blow over before also. In such wind I learned to tape my canvas to my easel (enough so it won't go flying) and tape on the paper pallet so the top page doesn't flop around and flip over onto my hand. So...I should have known. Good thing is I was reminded. I wont forget next trip.
