Fire and Rain

I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again
(James Taylor- Fire and Rain)

Scrolling through YouTube this morning when I saw a video on my home page about a guy almost burning down his house. He had built a burn pile in his yard consisting of the wood from his old front and back porches. People stressed to him the importance of the wood being damp so the fire could remain controlled. So the guy chooses a day that rain is forecasted and lights the fire; it doesn't start raining as expected, the wind picks up and before he knows it, he's trying to fight a fire with a water hose. He starts trying to remove wood from the fire without getting burned and just keeps praying the fire doesn't reach the maple tree next to his home.

The wind was gusting to 20 mph; he prayed, and he said every time a gust of wind came it was like an invisible wall was protecting the maple tree. "It was a miracle," he said. And when the rain came, the fire began to die down.
He had not been as prepared as he thought he was; All he could do was his best and pray. That's all any of us can do.

I am coming to terms with the thought that I may not see my family again. There is no telling how long this whole mess will go on. I don't think we are at that point yet, but I must entertain the possibility, feel all the emotions, grieve the loss, or it will keep popping into my mind. I always have to feel out the ending to be comfortable in the present.
