Perspective

I watched a show yesterday in which a lawyer discovered he had sent the wrong man to jail for murder. I know it’s just a tv show. It’s scripted, but I also know that kind of thing does happen for real. Not all the time but some of the time is plenty. And it’s crazy to think that 12 people plus at least one lawyer could be so convinced of the truth only to find out years or maybe decades later that the thing everyone was convinced was true, wasn’t. That all the evidence that was presented didn’t prove what they all thought it did. 12 strangers. All convinced of a truth that wasn’t. One person who knew all along and yet was “proved” to be wrong. A liar. A thief or a murderer. One piece of evidence and one little clue can completely change the narrative and what everyone knew for sure then, without doubt, is suddenly so obviously not true at all.
