The Legend Says.

In a dream I danced naked on a coal-baked floor under the roof of a dolomite cave. My feet moved to the rhythm of the unseen stars shooting across a black granite sky. I washed my hands in The Milky Way with a charcoal soap bar foaming at the mouth.

My feet sensed a presence and The Stars gasped for joy. Time stood still for a bare faced minute. I looked down from my mountain to see who was there.

A tiny snake lay coiled in slumber, dressed with the bright green skin of Springtime. He glimmered and glowed with each breath that he took from the air on the night sigh and blew the cave open.

"Who might you be little reptilian friend, that glimmers while sleeping in my space so secret??"

The tiny green snake lifted his head with a yawn and opened one eye to regard such as I.
"Why princess you know me, from way back in time see, ere the bells of Hell rang with Thunder and Doom. I'm your Guardian Secret who swoons with sans magic and tipped the Foul Scales to The Bull with No Ring."

I adjusted my weight from ten toes to no other and ran down my mountain to swoop on my friend. As he slid round my neck, I felt lighter than Daybreak and he lifted his face so it shone into mine.

"Pepito your servant is here at your service! What manner of matters are pressing you Princess?" And he smiled on the sly.

"I would like you to tell me, what time should I die? Will the octopi get me or will the blue fly?"

The tiny snake screwed up
his eyes and spat forth,
a stream of blue blood,
that flew to The South.

"Your answer lies not
in the seas
nor the dead
but in veils unseen
where The Merchant
writes home to."

Pepito made a knot twixt his head and his toe, closed his bright eyes forever and I wept 'neath the moon. My hand went to my throat to touch my dead reptile and I felt instead scales of emerald instead.
I wear to this day my beloved friend's emeralds as a sign of great love for his services rendered. No charge.
