Hackney trees

Did the Hackney ParkRun, more than two minutes slower than my PB there; it was very congested and a bit muddy. The race started while I was still talking to Scottish Claire, Dharmesh and the gorgeous but shy Isabelle. I saw Steve L while I was walking there from Homerton; he said Steve C was coming but I later found out he overslept. Saw Toyin afterwards and was heading for the marquee with Liz, where we had to meet for the tree planting. Toyin had a brightly-coloured hat on, so we didn’t get lost following her.

Hackney Council are planting a new edible woodland in Hackney Marshes, with 6,500 fruit and nut trees. As we’d had training last week, we were supervisors, so at times people were asking us for advice. At one time I thought all the tress had been planted, when the mulching began, but at the other end Eva and others were still busy planting, and we then did some more behind a ridge. A little boy asked me to come and see his tree. I told him to come back when he was aged 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 to see his tree.

I left at 12:00 to go to football, I was going to stay until 12:30 but I was tired, which was a good thing as I didn’t get home until 13:10. The game had a sparkling start, but then fell away. The people who then started moaning had not shown any praise when things were going well, which is what annoys me about football supporters. I didn’t go by bike as I was racing next day, so I got to see a nice girl with over-knee boots on the train. At home I had a proper bath and watched the EFL.
