A Synopsis of my Life
January 18th, 2019, Friday, 06:34:30 p.m.
Kamensk-Ural’skiy, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia. GMT 05:00
I was invited to give a concert at the social and cultural center in Kamensk-Ural’skiy. This event was organized by the art group called “Sozvezdiye” (English: “Constellation”), which is based there.
When I arrived at the bus station, the organizers of my concert met me there and took me to the social and cultural center where the event was going to take place. The center administrator led us to the library hall.
Shortly after, Tatiana Kulakova (Russian: Татьяна Кулакова) came there. She is a professional performer of Old Russian romances, but she teaches the Russian language and Literature at the Polytechnical college, which is based in Kamensk-Ural’skiy. Tatiana Kulakova favored us with sung Russian romances between my readings of my Russian poems with their English translations and my English poems with their Russian translations. Most of the audience was the 1st and 2nd year students of the aforementioned Polytechnical College. They study Information Systems and Programming. Ah – ha – ha! Most of the students preferred to sit on the back rows, I do not know why. Tatiana Kulakova said this was their student habit. “They are doing that instinctively to not be noticed by the teacher to avoid getting an F” – Tatiana said. She even invited the students to come closer to us, saying we would not examine them or give them a bad grade. Nevertheless, very few of them agreed to do so.
There were some eminent guests too. For example, Vladimir Mukhin (Russian: Владимир Мухин), a famous actor and theater director. When I was reading my poems, I noticed his heed. He seemed to be devouring every word I was saying. Judging by his facial expression, he enjoyed my poems. At the end of the meeting, he came up to me, shook my hand and said he liked my poems so much and said they were “succinct” and wished me further success in my creative activity. I was happy to hear that from him.
After the meeting, Tatiana Kulakova bought one paper copy of “A White Raven”, I signed it for her.
Generally speaking, I really enjoyed this meeting. Indeed, this was the very first poetical concert tour in my life! Wow! Did I succeed? Well, we will see. At least, the organizers of the concert expressed hope I would come to their town again. We will see. To tell the truth, I do not like to think ahead. Well, we can make plans, the main thing is that they should not become empty dreams; this is even harmful to our mental health. This concert took place. This is probably good.
