rediscovering magic

I watched a magic tv show this morning. Most of my inspiration comes from tv shows lately, I've noticed

As an adult, I find it harder to feel amazed by the tricks they perform. I spend much of my time thinking about the way they pulled it off. The simplest tricks makes me wonder about the thousands of hours they put into that small action before it was committed to muscle memory.
As an adult, I find my own thinking discouragingly boring.

despite the way illusion gets shattered with common sense, I feel there's a natural draw to the ethos of a magician's work. The way thousands of hours to learn that trick weren't traversed as a burden, but as a reward, and not only a reward for yourself, but to others. And it's truly the simplest of rewards- inspiration. Or wonder.
I don't think magicians do it for the approval, at least not the best of them. They learn magic for the chance that for one second they'll make someone believe.

There's magic in belief itself, I suppose, that doesn't wear off with age.

I think the biggest trick is getting yourself to believe first.
