Shooting Stars.

I saw a star
arc across
the
night sky
one
brief blazing curve
quickly faded
to nothing
how fast
was
that thing moving?
fear
and fascination
gripped me
lightly by the heart
as I silently
wondered
why did the star
have to die?
and was it once
a place
where life existed?
did God do that?
throw the star
into motion
until it disintegrated?
will God do that
to our tiny globe?
"Ok
you earth people.
I've had enough
of your crap.
I'll shoot you all
into
the black universe
and destroy you."
but no.
I do not think
God operates
like that.
He didn't
create with love
what He
would destroy
in a moment
of Divine Wrath.
I saw
a shooting star tonight
and felt loved
and felt special
and wondered
how many others
here on earth
saw it?
and
was anyone
watching it die,
thinking
what I was?
