Humanity at Last

I laid in the thicket, in deep contemplation of the loss of humanity among nearly all the boys. I was aware that I was in such pursuit so I decided to take initiative. That night I sneaked out to the guard post where the twins were set. Out of thinking that we were still in this together I tried to persuaded them into joining me, however the only gesture they would do was provide me food. They continuously reminded me that I must leave immediately but I was reluctant to endure the upcoming destinies alone. It wasn't until Jack returned and threatened the twins that I crept back off. After deep difficulty in trying to find me, I smelled smoke. I quickly realized that Jack was attempting to smoke the jungle out and get me to retreat from my position. With all my will, I emerged from the thicket and ran as fast as I could toward the beach. Jack and his boys followed me closely and chased me with their spears. Out of exhaustion I collapsed on the beach ready to meet whatever my violent fate may be. Suddenly I looked up to the sight of a naval officer looking down at me, confused as to what was going on. He claimed to have come in response to the smoke that emerged from he jungle from Jack's fire. Although I knew everything was going to be fine from there on out, a strong sense of realization struck me and evoked from me great tears. The death of both Simon and Piggy hit me and the sense of lost civility wandered my mind. Although I sit on this ship thankful for my life, I will never forget my encounters from this island.
