Our Lost Opportunity

Words can not describe my anger and disappointment in my fellow “friend.” Before I address that however, I find it appropriate that I explain life as it is thus far. Things have been going quite alright despite our situation and everyone seems to be making the best of it, especially the litluns who seem to be carefree and joyful. Although, our food supply looks like it could use some variety for there is such a crowd that suffers the effects from feeding off of simply fruit. However, I do not want to invest too much time as some others do (Jack) into slaughtering pigs. The outcome usually do not suffice for the amount of effort and time that is required for such a task and it seems to only serve as a distraction. This has recently shown clear after a potential life-costing move by Jack this past afternoon. To sum it up as I strolled the lagoon with Piggy we spotted a ship only to notice the lack of smoke in the sky. This was due to the fire being put out as a result of poor watch by Jack and his crew. I made myself very clear that the fire is our main priority in terms of being rescued, however the boys neglected this and this destroyed the change of a possibly life saving boat from saving us. I can no longer take Jack’s selfish and power-hungry attitude and feel something needs to be done. To add on to this unfortunate mishap, word is spreading quickly on the island of the previously addressed “beastie” and it continues to stir up problems. With children so young, it is nearly impossible to reassure them of reality and put their fears aside.
