A Synopsis of my Life

This morning I woke up and having done the ghusl (the greater ablution) and having had breakfast, headed for jumuʿah to the mosque called “Noor Osman”, which is in the Dekabristov Street. Having arrived there, I met a man, whose name was Umar. He was very friendly to me. It was Umar who reported me, that Adham had left for his motherland, and that he would go back soon.
Having finished with my tahara, I found a skullcap which perfectly suited me and put it on my head. So, today was the first jumuʿah in which I participated having a skullcap on!
Okay. Good. This mosque has two parallel halls: for men and for women accordingly. The pulpit for the imām is made in a shape of a staircase, so that he can pronounce his khuṭbah sitting on one of the stairs. The pulpit itself is no bigger than an adult man! Next to the pulpit, there hangs a carpet with elaborate patterns on it.
The sermon began a bit later. It was delivered by a young imām, whose name is muћamad xazrat abasov (Avar Cyrillic: МухIамад Хазрат Абасов), he is from Dagestan and is of an Avar origin. Muћamad Xazrat talked about kindness. In particular, he said, that it is impossible to have a clean body and a pleasant smell, at the same time having unkind thoughts or intentions towards your brothers. “We should not let hatred penetrate our hearts. If we say “I love the Prophet (صَلَّى ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ)” and we do not do the ṣalāt, these are just empty words, which mean nothing. Many people say, “We glorify the Prophet Muhammad (صَلَّى ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ)” , but we lay other prophets low”. This is not true. Other prophets like for example ʿĪsā (عليه السلام) are very important, and their works are meaningful.
We should do things Allāh wants us to do, we can achieve this by following the Prophet (صَلَّى ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ)”. This is a short synopsis of the Muћamad’s sermon. After the khuṭbah, we had a Friday ṣalāt . The ṣalāt happens after the sermon in this mosque.
Having finished with all that, we had some activity concerning the Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (صَلَّى ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ). I also met Telej Hasanbekov, my ex-student there. We had a very warm conversation; afterwards I headed for the Belinsky library to get some information for my research.
