Passions

The biggest source of happiness is for your cravings to be appreciated (that's a topic for another entry). But obviously the first step is to have and know what your cravings are. Without having passions you are as cold as a machine. Here goes:

1. Physics. This was my major in undergrad. I LOVE asking questions about how somehting became what it is. Physics is the most fundamental science, with a strong knowledge in physics you ultimately know everything about how the universe works. How coool is that?? I can look at anything and be able to describe to you exactly how it works, down to the individual shell model and binding energy of the nuclei. Even chemistry is just applied physics. It's crazy how nature works when you get to the bottom of everything there's just a few "laws" that God introduced which creation and everything just operates. It's the most astonishing thing in the world.

2. Even though I don't consider myself knowledgeable in politics. I do love talking about it. I enjoy breaking down somebody's argument down into its fundamental pieces. Just today I got into an hour long conversation with my brother on law, morality and abortion.

3. Volleyball. I've only been playing for about a year and I absolutely love it. It's now my favorite ways to spend my free time.

4. Adventure. I love exploring outdoors.

5. I love making people smile. That's one of the reasons I enjoy researching psychology so much. I also just kinda... suck at talking to people.

6. I love cooking. I love making homemade donuts. I used to make them almost once a month, there's a whole art to making them turn out just perfect.

7. I love swing dancing. I'm not a fan of club dancing; but that's just because I don't know any good moves I guess?

8. Running! Omg, why is this so far down on the list? Yeah, it’s pretty amazing being independent out there just doing your own solo thing. I’m back in Virginia so it’s pretty warm. I ran 7 miles yesterday and gosh, idk if it was just the hills or if I’ve become out of shape but I had a tough time just keeping 8:30 min/mile pace.

9. I love technology. AI, smartphones, computers you name it; I probably have read numerous articles on it. I just think it's cool to watch how tech is improving so fast.

10. I guess in general i love exotic or extreme things. I love getting an adrenaline rush. "It makes my blood run to roll the dice."

11. I love challenges. I'm a guy, competition is in my veins. If somebody tells me "I bet you can’t do that" then I'm the type of person who's going to try it. I ran 17 miles a few weeks back just cause somebody challenged me. Then a few months ago I volunteered to get pepper sprayed because somebody else was (that was more just me wanting to experience something new).
12. I enjoy listening to music. Almost all genres. I think my favorites are: Folk, EDM, Pop, classic rock, rock, metal, country, hmm... what else?

13. I guess I like writing. I can see myself being a writer in an alternate universe. I enjoy the art of writing. There’s a certain art to making a piece of work that people actually want to read. Sometimes I look at a paper i wrote for class and think to myself "this is garbage, even i don’t like reading it" other times I'll sit back and read and re-read my own work proud of what I accomplished.

14. Building stuff. Chicken coops. Rail gun. Legos.

15. Unicycling. Haven't done this lately but it's still a fun hobby.

That's all i can think about now. It's like 2:30AM... I should get a bit of sleep.
