"Shelter From The Storm" by Bob Dylan

'Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood
When blackness was a virtue the road was full of mud
I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form
Come in, she said
I'll give ya shelter from the storm

Do you ever feel like you're wearing horse-blinders? 'Cause like. I've sorta felt that way all day. But only with piano. I had this dream that I was trying to play my favorite part of Rondo Alla Turca (although tbh that song is starting to grate on my nerves – I'm gonna ask Polly if I can learn something new, because that always makes my old pieces seem a little more fresh, I dunno why) but my fingers were numb from sleep and they wouldn't play the notes evenly.

Sometime after I woke up, I sat down at the piano to play moonlight sonata. I think I did okay, but I didn't enjoy it. I just felt like I couldn't listen to the whole thing at once like I usually can. I couldn't think ahead. I just felt like my vision was very narrow somehow.

I don't know how to describe it. I just feel that way sometimes about different things.

Like I can't really concentrate outside of what's directly in front of me. I don't get it.

I just tried playing piano again, same thing. Guess I am out of tune today.

This is a letter from a person who was in the NV SRWH program last year. They left this in my desk. Well, everyone from last year left letters for their seat mates.

But anyway, here's the one from my desk:

Dear new NV student,

Congratulations on sitting at the coolest desk in the room. Be prepared to work non-stop in this class because the work never really does stop coming. Start all of your projects early and stay up to date. Sleep. Enjoy senior year, and remember that happiness is more important than academic success. Work hard on your 30-page paper, because professionals may notice you. Don't cry though. I only got 3rd at the brain bee, so take home a win for this desk. I'll be sure to come back and say hello. Never sit on the plastic part of the desk. Buy a lab coat. Decorate your desk. Be polite and nice to everyone, because if not they might one day team up on you and break the news to you that you're actually a sarcastic, intraverted douchebag.
(Yes, this happened to me.)

(NOTE FROM ME, VERONICA: we read these out loud. At this part, Ruth shook her head, saying, "Oh, no one thought he was a douchebag!" haha)

Make sure to remind Mrs. Ruth that she is the best because she really is. (Especially on Teacher's appreciation day!) Celebrate everyone's birthday. Be honest. Use time wisely! Good luck. Also, please find the picture of this dog and put it on the wall. (Hint: it's very close to you!)

-Jeremy, Class of 2016

I have not yet found the dog.

I am going to die! This is awesome. Things are good. Life is good.
