1993 REVIEW (PART SEVEN)

16-18 July (Friday-Sunday), Louisville, KY (continues)

As it turned out, though, Sun was only 'watching the store.' Early this afternoon He activated himself. There was no one to cover for Him afterwards, however; still the air greedily stuffed Itself with Moisture, making it necessary to 'wade' through the air in order to execute Al Fresco activities.
Buckles and Mary are observing a Cease Fire - at least for the time being. I just may be able to make the move in comfort.

19-20 July (Monday-Tuesday), Louisville, KY

(19th) Once again, I enter Blue Collar's World!
Monday, the nineteenth of July of the year 1993.
This morning is hot and clamy here in Louisville, KY

(20th) Last night Ali came face to face with it!
I had no clothes on as I was arranging my 'bed'; Ali talking with me and helping. The child (I must remember the key word, Child) stare at my penis, was almost hypnotized by the Swinging Pendulun.
Of course I had no way of knowing, but my buttocks were most likely also a popular spot!

(acerca 6:27 A.M.) I was feinting sleep, lying on my left side, when Ali rubbed my foot. She never gave a feel to the body part I was hoping she would!
I played 'footsie' with Ali, by straining my left foot to touch her left foot.
While Buckles and Mary were house hunting I would walk the hall, naked.
I just couldn't bring myself to caress Ali, buttocks!
Chuck Davenport offered me a job yesterday. He told me the show gets back to the Lower 48 in about a week.

(acerca 4:59 P.M.) Mr. Davenport said he would call back Thursday afternoon, late. His Royal King Circus begins a tour of Washington State the first week of August.
This is only July 20, 1993.
ONLY the twentieth?! If I take the Circus job, I got to somehow come up with Wardrobe!
I haven't submitted my notice at work yet: I am waiting to see what Gopher offers me.
This has been a bright, cruel Tuesday, here in Louisville, KY. As it was yesterday,

(acerca 5:07 P.M.) Gopher just called: I will be leaving Sunday, via bus, in order to meet the Circus in Washington.
What a long trip that will be!
Anyway, I suppose I am committed. And I have even less time to prepare for this 1993 Mini-season!
Hells bells!

21-22 July (Wednesday-Thursday), Louisville, KY

(21st) Most likely my last but two days at the fairgrounds - at least for a while. I am going to do my damnest to arrange things so, in the likely event I come back in October or before, I can resume employment there.
July 21, 1993, Louisville, KY. A Wednesday. Given Gopher's reputation, I should be back sooner.

(acerca 9:34 P.M.) I began - with Jeff and Doug - a 2 ½ day Fellowship with Frederick Manufacturing of Kansas City this afternoon. A Major Trade Show is about to come down in the East Wing, and I was one of a trio called upon to assist in Set-Up.
Buckles and Mary have an apartment on Preston Highway.

(22nd) The Two-Two (22nd) of July 1993; as I was saying, the new apartment is way out there where Mary works (Video Vault). A long ways from the fairgrounds. City Buses operate on an irregular schedule.
Wouldn't you say this is a valid reason to change locale, so work would be close to me?
And why is Mary pulling a drunk? She should be overjoyed at the impending move, not 'wiped out' on the couch in the den! Poor Ali had to endure her grandmother's bestial behavior: abusivness, vulgar, etc.
It's motestaton beyond anything I could ever do! Damn! if I am going to leave a blank check, signed, behind: Mary may full in an amount above the available funds during one of her often 'desperation' flings!
Louisville, KY - I have no choice but to keep this as a temporary base: I dont want to be without a Cash Storage. I have several stuff I need storage space for. Besides, I may need the Center of Operation if I return to the fairgrounds.
Thursday - how could I ever keep up the facade of a partnership? Mary is becoming worse and worse! I have no desire to wallow in the sewage the rest of my allotted time on earth! Up until the end I want to 'kick around' a few ideas - and there Peraleses are dileberately trying to sabotage it all!
A warm morning; yesterday afternoon was bright, muggy, and hot, a saving Breeze hanging around.
Doug is another guy I can't work with.

23-26 July (Friday-Monday), Louisville, KY

(24th) I could have sworn I reported in yesterday! Well, another first! And I have no excuse this time!

(acerca 9:14 P.M.) 52 cents to send Lesson Four to the university. Hell! the assignment, counting the cover page, was seven pages! I really did a job on it!
Hot today! The hazy Cloud Cover kept the Heat from escaping.
It was as if Huge Hands were pressing down. Or churning Butter! Thick Heat - almost palpable!
Just as I figured the Davenports fucked me over. Wisely, I had not put out much money.
The toll-free number has been closed down.
It should have been a portent when Chuck (Gopher's Brother) henmed and hawed about paying for the bus ticket. And when he wanted me out in Darrington, Wa., to 'assist' the Advance Crew (the fact that Chuck the August 8 Darrington date should have augerrrd that the crook wanted me to get out there using my own money.
I was supposed to make the final committment yesterday evening, but the telephone connection finished out the 3-4 ring series with tones and beeps. And that, my friends, means the end of service!
The only inconvenience I had to do was to 'quit' the fairgrounds. No problem, really: I was told I would be welcomed back anything. Come Monday morning, I will test this.
I still can't understand what restrained my pen from these pages yesterday! I should have written about the weather, at least (which, by the way, was hot, humid, and breezy. However, it was less hot than the preceeding days.).
I spent my 'last day' hosing down the stadium seats.

(acerca 9:37 P.M.) Hopefully this perfidy by the Davenports did the trick! Maybe I can finally bury my Mime Persona. I have always had problems with Show Owners - that story would be an entire Journal in itself! - and this latest 'mis-understanding' should be the last. One of the crosses a Professional Entertainer must carry is a steady diet of Bullshit and adversity. I am not willing to bear this anylonger. Hence, Mime is keeping me out of Her House.
And I really don't care! I had a wonderful Marriage! Of course, I was hoping for sever more years, but why wait so long?

(25th) I can't believe people like the Davenports would cause me to forsake a day that should have been devoted to Journal! Hell! I knew the chances of being fucked!
At least I held back and am not being stuck out on the West Coast!
Those Davenports are worse than I thought. Ever since the start of my career I have heard tales of their unscrupless behavior. That I would even consider any show with which they were associated is a sign of a desperate, last ditch effort to save a dying Career! I was out to spite Carson and Barnes Circus; and revenge is dangerous and a waste. Carson and Barnes, if feeling the effects of my defection, is suffering enough on its own
July 25, 1993. Another hot, sticky day is scheduled.
Buckles and Mary seem to be better 'family.' It may be they will be better 'hosts' in the future, after all!
Sunday in Louisville, KY. We have almost cleared out this trailer; by the middle of the week we should be in the Okalona apartment.

(acerca 6:27 P.M.) The Seneca Avenue residence is no longer attacked to us; for the next day or so we will be at Tonya's house (Mary's daughter) on Lincoln Avenue. Then we should move on into the 'fancy' apartment.
Is it my imagination - or is the Heat stronger than usual this afternoon? The sun had it out for us for some reason.
It was (and still is) an energy-draining day.
Maybe I won't lose any more days, for a while! I'm still in shock and remorse about how I treated Friday!

(26th) At least I hope I can get 'back on'! And I hope I can come to terms with the pernament split from Clowning!
July 26, 1993, Louisville, KY. Still at Tonya's house; I slept in Ali's bed.
Monday, a day of Change-over. For this latest episode surely was grounds for a divorce! Maybe I can, maybe I can't use Circus in the future at the Fairgrounds; and if I can't, big deal.

(acerca 4:35 P.M.) Needless to say, Mack was shocked and confused that I was a 'show' this morning. I just told him shit happens.
I was re-instated on the crew.
Up until around 2:30 P.M., the Humidity was horribly tormenting! But then It materialized, complete with Drum Corps and Light Display. At one point Wind was brought forth. An energetic Zephyr which was concerned with only one thing: grab the people's attention, and they will never forget you!
Buckles came for me, the main reason being I had no idea how to bus over here to Tanya's house (our temporary residence; Tanya, Ali, and Daryl are on a trip to Tennessee). Then, too, Rain was proving antipodal to a wait even if I had chosen Mass Transportation!
At least Heat has slipped from Its grip! It was about to strangle us!

27 July-6 August, Louisville, KY

(27th, About 12:00 noon) Here at the new apartment - well, the building isn't new, but it is our new home - at 4124 Foreman, Apt. #6 (the quadroplex is a block or so west of Preston Highway, a mile or so south of the Outer Loop). The building is in the midst of a 'herd' of domiciles.
I am not due to report to the Fairgrounds until 2:53 P.M., so Buckles and I moved most of the stuff this morning.
The new home is nice, in a so-so neighbor, very near Mary's work (Video Vault) - but a 'fur' piece from mine. TARC #18-Outer Loop serves this area, so I hope that its 'runs' and my work schedule co-ordinate.
It is a hot, humid day! Instead of the Clouds (of which the Heat chased off) raining, that ability has been given to me.
Once we get organized, and I become oriented to the library branch, etc., and the city bus schedule, this will be a superb place to live. That will take a week or so, though.

(28th) Jerri slept on the couch last night/this morning (she had Ben, but the kid wasn't really a variable!). I walked from my room to the bathroom, naked. If Jerri's position on the couch afforded a view, I couldn't tell you.
Early this morning the door to my room was ever-so-slightly opened.
Is Jerri wanting a liaison? I for one could go for it! Just to try it out, you understand.
July 28, 1993; it was my first night at the new place. I'm estatic to live here, in the Okolona part of Louisville, KY.

(acerca 6:22 A.M.) A Wednesday.
This new place has central Heating/Air Conditioning; Mary keeps it so cold I had to wear my long sleeve thermal top to sleep!
I left work at 9:23 P.M. (we had to option on leaving after lunch or staying; I temporized.) A Bus #16 Outer Loop fortunately, 'ran' down Preston Highway, stopping by Thorton's (just beyond Gate Six). I am able to debus a block away, just pass Jerri' Restaurant).

(29th, About 6:17 A.M.) My advisor, Bob McKenzie, is being informed of my new address. The Tamily in Alabama was told via telephone yesterday.

(acerca 6:23 A.M.) Here it is, the 'dead' of summer, and I am forced to sleep in Thermal top and Sweat pants! Mary insist on the house being cold! As of yet I don't even have a cover to put over me - only a sheet. And it doesn't warm me.
Mary only thinks about herself. No matter how nice people are to her, its 'herself' all the time.
Even in stores, if the salespeople don't conform to her standards, it sets her off. She becomes crude and antaginistic. The situation wears one down.

(acerca 9:07 P.M.) Rain stopped by yesterday evening; It and Heat Eloped. For Cool found Itself having to go it alone.
A bright, comfortable (except for the glare) day, with a beautiful configuration of Clouds.
Mary's Heatphobia made for a cold sleep period. With only a sheet, my Cover against the Beast was inadequate. Sleep escaped as soon as Cold started to oppress.
It may sound perverted, but I am enjoying my job! I seem to be getting respect. Kinda fun, actually! Which is why I want to divert Chuck Davenport's call. I made the mistake of dialing the toll-free number yesterday morning. The recorded message freaked me out!
I recorded the new number.
When I arrived home, Buckles informed me Chuck had called. I asked him to say I still haven't gotten in if he called back; then I went outside to practice.
I have no desire to return to the Circus until I am ready. And I ain't ready! So there! And you can't make me!
I am riding TARC #18 from work. The 4:25 P.M. 'run' only takes about twenty minutes. A convenient mode of transportation, and it saves Buckles and/or Mary one trip to fetch me. And all for sixty cents.

(30th, Around 5:53 A.M.) Mary has been 'hogging' the bathroom sink since moving-in day. A white article of clothing has been soaking since that time. I have to shave during a shower and bush my teeth under the bathtub faucet.
Here it is, the morningtime (around 5:53 A.M.), and Mary and Buckles have had another spat. Mary is asleep in the couch. Where is Buckles? He was to take me to work this morning (he is off today); I suppose I will have to depend on the city bus this morning.
July 30 (Friday), 1993: Louisville, KY. I don't want these dysfunctional surroundings to force a retreat to the Circus. I am not ready for my return. Maybe next Spring.
Besides, I want to work the Kentucky State Fair and the North American Cattle Show.

(acerca 9:04 P.M.) A pay of $136.23: but strangely I still prefer the fairgrounds job to Circus.
Yes, Chuck Davenport continues to call for me. I rather, however, follow through with my original plan - to experience behind-the-scenes of the Kentucky State Fair. And than perhaps I will consider another season. After so many Clown seasons, there is so much Circus I never had the chance to investigate.
The Moo Cow Show in November will also bring things to my attention.
I am getting more involved with Professional Baseball. So it's only as a groundkeeper and Clean-Up, but it is some experience. This fall there is a possibility I will also receive an introduction to Pro Hockey.
I can always go back to Circus if I find work in town scarce.
So Chuck, don't call me anymore! And I am not going to call him back! What can he do to damage my 'Career'? With his reputation, people will applaud, label my Hero, at the way I slight him.
At least I think my 'hold-out' will pay off.
Anyway, who cares?
It wasn't Mary who was 'tying' up the bathroom sink: it was Buckles. He had his white nursing pants asoaking. I apologize, Miss Mary!
Bus #45 got me to work this morning. No bus operates early enough for me to meet the 5:30 A.M. Work Call in the morning. I suppose I will have to call Bucky for transport.
It was cooler today. A wonderful Spring Breeze gambolled among us. Bright sun, brilliant Cloud design; a terrific way for July to announce Her Closing.

(31st, 5:05 A.M.) Get ready for the End-of-the-Month Sale. For it is here!
The thirty-first of July 1993! A Saturday.
(Where is Ninety Three getting off to?)
It is still sunless at 5:05 A.M., as I prepare for work. Damn! these early calls!
Chuck Davenport must be wondering what went wrong in our negotiations; noting went wrong - I'm just settled into fun, that's all. Hopefully I won't regret this Backing Out!

(acerca 7:46 P.M.) What gives me the sneaky feeling that Buckles is 'testing' me with this "Chuck Davenport is trying to contact you!" thing? Well, probably because I left the message to contact me after 5:00 P.M., and each 'phone call' from Chuck has occurred before I got home, before five.
Is Buckles checking out my staying power? Does he want to see if I am serious about my disgust with Circus?
And another thing: the other night when Buckles were pissed off; somehow I think it concerned me. Did Mary 'get on to him' for the 'practical joke'? Did Buckles get an attack of jealousy when Mary 'upheld' my decision to stay around awhile longer?
Or am I meglomanical?
Nine and a-half hours today: cleaning and mopping the stadium, then sweeping and scooping at the Moo Cow Show.
No hardship - until I began the wait for a bus #18: Over an hour before one was going my way! Now I know Saturday is not a good day for City Bus travel!

(1st) And so 1993's August begins. I only hope this First is as weather-beautiful - cooler, bright, clear, Picture Book Cloud design - as it was yesterday.
This is suppose to be a Day of Rest, but I guess my Eight Hours on this Sunday will be scooping and cleaning at the Moo Cow Show.
Louisville, KY.

(acerca 1:23 P.M.) What is mutilating my lunch bags? I have an idea after today - a rat or rats! I was going to go the 3 hot dogs route; but when I went to retrieve the Brown Bag from the hiding place (under the seating, perched on a brick wall. The refrigerator, the usual storage bin, is being cleaned and 'groomed.') the bag showed signs of being nibbled. The Dawgs were gone!

(acerca 8:23 P.M.) The name of the Apartment Grouping is Southernview, most likely because the Southern High School Athletic field is immediately west of the place.
The air could only carry the upper-80-degrees (F.) today, the maximum load for the past 3-4 days.
A sur-realistic lay-out of Cirrus Clouds this afternoon.
Anyway, after cleaning the Blue seats at the Stadium, taking up the tarp used as a cover for the Infield, and helping set-up tables and chairs under a tent 'behind' the Stadium, we (Don, Eddie, and I) were dismissed. Punch-out could be at 10:53 P.M. I was hoping to feast on the hot dogs, but someone or something beat me to them! I would then have punched-out at 11:23, (making it a four-hour day).
It was a good thing the plan fell through, however: TARC #18 stopped at the Stop by Thornton's (outside Gate 6), around 11:15 A.M.
I let Ali see me naked last night. Bedding down on the couch, she had a straight shot into my bedroom. I de-clothed and walked on THIS side of the open door. At one point I even made a trip to the kitchen - nude, of course! - for a drink of water. And naturally I passed before Ali.
The kid sure is a fan of my modelling!

(2nd, About 6:20 A.M.) A belated August Storm, intended for First, did a Sweep of Second's Camp early this morning. Along with Cannon Blasts and Nightime Scopes, the Rain was a complete Wash-out.
And a noisy one at that! It was a forceful way for Month the Eight to take over Ninety Three.

(acerca 9:36 P.M.) A day of installing Horse Stables; and it ain't over!
Most of my co-workers have 'covered' this State Fair Horsey Show several years - and I am the one, the new kid on the block, who is 'jumped on' for not arranging the 'housing' the way it should be done! That doesn't make much sense, does it? But I am determined to stay on board until the end! I don't feel the urge to get back into Make-up: I want to carry out my original plan, to squeeze the Kentucky Fair and Exhibition Center of all the 'experience' I can draw out before my residency comes to an end, either voluntarily or otherwise.
Damn! if the Fairgrounds job isn't like Circus! The laborers are on the same level as Big Toppers! Just being myself alienates me, as it did on the Circus!
What is next, I wonder? Another form of Circus, or a different kind of Woman?
Another upper-80-degrees (F) afternoon, with the sky dotted with Cumulus.
Phoebe is the equal of, or even surplases, Phoebus this evening! How lucky Nocturnal is to have such a Pal that visits rather frequently!
August just may be an interesting month! Pre-State Fair preparations are Circusy; the weather is poetic! I wouldn't miss this all for the world!

(3rd, About 5:19 P.M.) I was invited to go State this morning! As soon as I entered the Back door of the Coliseum, on my way to the 'hole' to store my lunch, Mack stopped me and asked if I was staying in town or going out to California or what. When I replied that I was staying he handed me an application for State employment.
I hurriedly jotted down some information in 4-5 minutes: Mack wanted the form as soon as possible, and I had the Horse stalls awaiting..
I suppose you realize that my acceptance by the Commonwealth of Kentucky would mean the end of the line for my Performance. Would this be so bad? Or would I soon lust after Make-uping?
Who knows what Fate will bring me! All I know is that Pernament Full-time at the fairgrounds has its benefits: Health Insurance, Life Insurance, a Pension Plan, inerpensive dental and optical maintainence. And a raise, albeit a small one.
Of course, even if I am picked up by the State, a 'come-back' is not out of the question. For I have had 'respites' before.
An exhausting day! Putting together Horse Stables is tiresome!
It was a split decision today: when Phoebus had the 'floor' He was Witty and Brilliant. And Overcast was convincing, also. In fact, the Speech was so moving, 'Tears' fell briefly!
Damn! it tickles me, the situation with those Cretons with whom I work! Most of them have 'uncouth' physical articulation (above and beyond their mental defiency); when they fail to 'unite' with Cost-effective Fencing/Movement, they criticize me. If I go Sate, I am making a try for the Administrative Service. I can't see working an enviroment for a long time!

(4th) I'm assuming I did the right thing. Chuck (maybe it wasn't a practical joke!) called 2-3 times a day; last night he phoned, Buckles talked with him, and the message repeated to me was that the bus ticket was returned a third time, so it was interrepted I wasn't joining the show.
Maybe I did the Davenports wrongly; but I just didn't feel the time was ripe for a return to the Circus. It's too soon after the Great Rape/
Besides, Royal King Circus, in addition to surrou_ding me with the same (and most likely worse) enviroment which I am trying to recover from and rebuild my Immunity against possible future contacts, would signal a Come-down. Sure, Carson & Barnes is amateurish, but it IS one of the Big Time shows, and my Come Back should be with Clyde Beatty, or one of the other established outfits.
In the meanwhile, the Fairgrounds is keeping me 'wrapped up' in Circus. For instance, part of the morning, and all the afternoon (we worked until 5:00 P.M.) was devoted to Shit Shovelling. As you know, the Moo Cow Show was in West Wing (Pavillion) earlier this week, and what those 'things' left behind had to be cleared away.
Already the fourth day of August! Tarnation - 1993 is a slippery burger! It just gets away if you try to slow it down!
A Spring-like Wednesday in Louisville, KY; the Air only captured the Mid-80-degrees (F.).
Rain began the day; Sunshine presided over the afternoon-evening transition.
Non-professional Sky-smearing by the Clouds-arranging.
I am musclar traumatized, but the long Session with the Shit is helping the stanima and discipline. And that is why I am doing this project, anyway!

(5th) Another 9-hour Killer Day! August 5, 1993, a day that will surely go down in history as a Thursday of setting up the rest of the Cow stalls in West Wing.
My back records this assignment; along with upper arms, shoulders; etc.
Louisville, KY.; a cool day continued to be on display. Phoebus showed up, but was unable to get on the list.
This intense work schedule: it is taking away from my life-substaining interests. I am also finding time for Schooling rather difficult.
Although I am seeing many results from this Experiment. Maybe I will live to put them to use!

(6th, Around 5:39 A.M.) Damn! if my mobility is restricted this morning! I just hope I can make it through this day!
Although Phoebus hasn't checked in yet, it appears to be a beautiful summer day. Of course, it is only around 5:39 A.M., but I suspect plans are already in the works for a smooth-running day!
In Louisville, KY., it is the sixth of August 1993. Usually Friday is the end of the Workweek, but, in the case of fairgrounds employees, given that the State Fair is close at hand, it doesn't signify anything.

(acerca 8:07 P.M.) I showed off one of my Circus tricks to the 'boys' this afternoon. As you know, the Horse stalls are being erected under tents set up earlier for just such. The Coliseum Crew was back on that duty.
A quarter pole needed moving: I used the backward, throw method (pushing the pole once it is launched by the unbending on the knees). Everyone was amazed that I could lift the pole completely off the ground and move it two feet.
We all know that 'trick' doesn't really involve Brute Strength, of which I have none. It's legerdemain with Body Mechanics, the illusion of muscling.
I am only now realized how much I did get from all those years with the Circus! Finally I have the need for the skills!
A coolish day; I even had to wear a jacket this morning and part of the afternoon!

(acerca 9:20 P.M.) Seven and a half hours overtime - at the regular rate per hour plus half again as much - in addition to the Usual Forty, brought me a weekly salary (week of July 25-31, 1993) of $169.30. It would have been $217.81, but the trickled down system got hold of it. You know, all those taxes!
I deposited $305.53 into a PNC ATM earlier: there is over $400 in my account. If not for this School Project, I would have almost a grand; we all know, though, that Education comes at a high price!
Until Sunday evening I have a hiatus from work. I can sure use it!
By the way, did I ever tell you about last Saturday (or was it two weeks ago?) at the Nearly New Shop of the Mid-City Mall? I tried on a pair of trousers - outside the curtained 'closets'! Standing in front of a mirror, I modelled in my underwear with a female looking on. Damn! if I couldn't do this more often!
What a great way to spend a Saturday!
Load me down with heavy work all you want to I can take it!
At least my legs can.
The Back, on the other hand, is another matter. That is why yesterday was so destructive - setting and tightening those Cattle stalls required that I assume positions not meant for me. Although I can feel the after-effects of Horse Stall-erection, I don't have nearly the terrible 'feedback' other work is capable of 'instilling.'

7-9 August (Saturday-Monday), Louisville, KY

(7th) Lesson 5 was mailed off late this morning, for 52 cents. The University sure is behind - I should be receiving the graded assignments back. Either campus responsibilities or the change in my address is slowing things down.
Louisville, KY, on a warm Saturday. The 'torn' sky isn't allowing all that much sun through.
August 7, 1993: I finally sent a birthday card off to Joyce. Her 44th is today.

(acerca 5:27 P.M.) Nine Pepsis - at the current price the cost would be $5.40 or more! - for 35 cents! And I could have got them for nothing!
K-Mart - in this case the one on Preston Highway, not far from the house - has a soft drink vending machine that dispenses Pepsi products for 35 cents. While Mary and Buckles were in the Check-out line I wandered off, and drifted towards the machine.
It wasn't until I had put in seven nickels that I discovered four cans of pepsi (maybe it was six) in the 'bucket.' Reaching through the 'door,' I was able to pull out several more cans.
I loaded the refreshments into a cart (a little girl tried to 'hijack' it while my back was turned) and took them to the car.
I noticed several of the K-Mart personnel 'investigating' the Vending Vixen. But, technically, without having forced the machine apart, I can't be accused of stealing. Only cleverness and 'being in the right place at the right time.'
It was a great heist, at any rate. Granted, I felt some remorse at first, but I'll get over it. Let the K-Mart Staff puzzle over the Grand Take.
As I was about to say earlier, Joyce won't be hurt or surprised at belatedly receiving a birthday card. In fact, if one had reached her on time, it would have been a shock to her system!
I purchased a Deci-Lon slide ruler (at least I think it's a slide ruler) from the Nearly New Shop this morning for $5.00. The previous owner was a Stephen Koloms. Now, I have no idea how to use a slide ruler, but maybe there is a Correspondance Course which will reveal the secret. If not, the library should carry the news.
I also bought a pair of size 13 black Bally shoes, which were make in Italy. For five dollars, please keep in mind. That Mid-City Mall on Bardstown Road must had kept them in its Basement (Nearly New Shop) just for someone like me!

(8th, About 12:50 P.M.) Buckles always introduces me - as does Mary on occassion - as an Ex-Circus Clown. Just for the slightest of intance, I feel remorse and confuse.
Am I really an EX? Has it been definitely decided by Fate that my Services are no longer required?
Will I be unable to get back this time, as I did three times before?
Maybe I should have follow through with that offer from the Davenports (by the way, the show opens in the Lower Forty-Eight today)!
But I'm just not ready for Re-entry! Besides needing to build up steam in order to endure possibly 6,7,8 years in a hostile enviroment, I have Wardrobe to design. For I want the next Period to be 'Better and Improved'! And it wouldn't been if I had allowed the Davenports to slowly drain my energy and attention from Clown.
They would have, you know! I would end up doing all kinds of 'Chinese'!
A bright, beautiful day, Clouds randomly grouped spectacularly!
I report to the fairgrounds, by choice, this evening. I assume I thus have tomorrow to my self!

(9th) Now I understand the 'suggestion' "Thou shalt not steal"! If stealing be what it is! To avoid polemics in semantics I will just call it 'taking advantage of carelessness.'
I worked from 8:00 P.M., yesterday evening to 4:30 A.M., this morning, mainly so I could have a morning and afternoon to myself (I am naked as I write this, and will probably stay so until Buckles is due in, shortly after 3:00 P.M.). I was a part of the special crew that cleaned up West Hall (Baseball Card Show), East Hall, and the East Wing (Flea Market).
When it neared quitting time, I was allowed to 'recover' a tote bag, destined for the trash, containing mini-spools of ribbon, beads, figurines, etc., left behind by the Flea Market people.
I added to the lagnappe: when I went back to the 'hole' (break-room) in the Coliseum I threw in a roll of beige, 2" 'scotch' tape and a roll of black, 2" 'scotch' tape. Nevermind the pens and bible I carried off.
I pulled the 'robbery' of the Pepsis off successfully Saturday afternoon. Seeing how easy 'burglary' is, its gets into your blood. It becomes a Way of Life, a habit. If I don't keep my guard up, such unsanction behavior could easily cut my Spirit, bit by bit. A Quid Pro Quo results.. It then becomes a question of which is more important.
Louisville, KY, a beautiful bright Monday. The White has 'run' and faded onto the lovely Sky Blue.
August 9, 1993; and I had a good time of it on the job. Crazy as it sounds, I didn't feel a 'loser,' degraded, or humiliated by the Janitorial duties. I ravel in the discipline required.
Especially after the life-threatening atmosphere of that past two Circus seasons! It is a relief to be free of the tension and stress!
Mary is always telling me that she can't understand why her daughters - especially Jerri - are like they are (victums of men, unable to fend for themselves without enduring Peer disapproval, etc.). She says she raised them better than that.
Mary - does marijuana, gulps alcohol and become abusive, is rude when 'she is out of sorts' (which is often), treats Ali and Ben (her grandchildren) with contempt when the mood hits.
And this kind of woman is puzzled that what she reared exhibits personality quirks?!
Although I must say the 'reefer' tones down her Mood Swings. And this alone is evidence for more use in society.
It got cool early this morning. I suspect Fall arrived a wee bit early and is demanding a Voice in Matters.

(acerca 10:14 P.M.) I mailed the Analytical Thinking from Experience contract, along with a check for $249, to Dr. McKenzie earlier. Sure, that's a lot of money, but, come Sunday, the tuition goes up to $85 per semester hour, and I hope I can get there just under the gun. For six dollars is six dollars.

10 August (Tuesday), Louisville, KY

(About 8:44 P.M.) I was out of kilter today at work; I felt about a half-second off.
What may have done it was the rush job this morning. I overstayed my bed session by about fifteen minutes, thereby eliminating Breakfast time. It was all I could do to shower and shave!
Breakfast was a Pepsi.
If I don't get up early and 'mediate,' it seems I can never catch up with the day!
It was warm and 'closed' today. The sun drooled a little, but Overcast kept Vigil most of the day.
We completed the Horse Stalls set-up this morning. The afternoon was given over mainly to a Wipe-down of the seats in Freedom Hall.
The Go-Home Whistle wasn't until 4:53 P.M.
I walked away from the Fairgrounds with two rolls of never-been-used duct tape rolls, a red roll and a blue roll. Stealing is becoming a 'hobby' for me; I hate it that it is, but Five-finger Discounts, if done correctly, can be easy and exciting. I just hope it doesn't go too far!

11 August (Wednesday), Louisville, KY

(About 8:10 P.M.) I lied. I was premature. More Horse Stalls had to be put up today. Should I state that the housing is complete?
This afternoon cages for pigs saw life. I wonder - would it take pigs as long to erect Human Habitation as it does Humans to install pig pens? At least my fellow employees would lose by a mile in such a contest! Most of the people have worked the State Fair several times; every year is basicly the same, so how can they not know the procedure? If the Big Top went up as slowly, it would take weeks to erect it!
A hot, humid day which finally burst at the seams around 6:40 P.M.: a brief Wash Out. The only accomplishment was the Sun, as it was leaving for the night, stirred the Wetness around, making us sticky.
I had been exercising my fingers while between 'assignments. That, and the labor of the job, is Cause for sore hands and knuckles (and then, too, I could be a little - just a little mind you, artritic!). But, who knows, I may try Clyde Beaty-Coles Bros. Circus next season. Especially given the fact that Mary will be making me a fancy outfit for the ALLADIN video promotion Performance Buckles and I will do at the Video Vault the first weekend in October.
A new look - this is what I laid out a year for! If I can get back with a show, I plan to be, 'Improved and Better than ever'!

12 August (Thursday), Louisville, KY

(About 7:57 P.M.) It rained early this morning.
Boy, did it ever rain!
It rained this afternoon.
And did it ever rain!
Although peaceful at present, most of the day was devoted to rain.
I clocked in at 5:53 A.M., this morning; at 4:30 P.M., I 'punched' out. Mack had sent word that the entire crew would have to stay until five, but after a half-hour of just standing around, Mack's boss dismissed us.
The crew had been clearing an area out by Gate 5; in fact, that is where I cut my finger. Pulling weeds no less! I wasn't going to report it, but several of my co-workers urged me to. So I rode in a golf cart with Mack to First Aid (located in Freedom Hall).
It was during the ride to the hospital that I made the complaint. I told Mack about the situation that exists: conflicting directions from the veterans about how to do a job. Mack said only his directions counted, but, hey! I'm the one who has to work with those guys! Just being myself alienates me enough - I'm doing my damnest to fit in some, and an open 'rebellion won't help the cause. The criticism I Laid on those people during the Pig Pens set-up blemished me almost beyond repair!
Can I help being a snob? It's what I am!
And this buddying up to Willie Davis- that could be a mistake. He is not as 'loyal' to my way of thinking as I would have it. If I don't watch it, he could easily do me in!
It was warmishly cool today.
All this overtime I am putting in was meant for School; but if this dilatory Correspondance Course - I still haven't received any lessons back! And it's been over a month! - is any indication, I am going a different route to B.A.!

13 August (Friday), Louisville, KY

(Around 6:06 A.M.) How many times in the past did I state that the time has arrived that I am finally out of Clowning? That I would enter into other contracts?
That I would be a civilian!
Only to retreat back into Mime's arms?
So this 'break' may only be a 'breather' after all! Damn if I can predict!
Friday, the thirteenth of August 1993; will this prove a mysterious day?
Louisville, KY.
Presently, around 6:06 A.M.

(acerca 7:45 P.M.) $205.06, down to $160.48, the amount I brought home. Five and a half hours of overtime during that week (August 1-7), and much more in the weeks ahead.
Like, tomorrow morning at 6:00 A.M.; that will make ten or more Over Hours.
It was a coolish, dim day, an easy day at work, mainly tasks at the stadium.

14-16 August (Saturday-Monday), Louisville, KY

(14th) So therefore this is Saturday the fourteenth of August 1993!
And . . . ?
I just thought I bring that up; no special meaning.
Except an afternoon centered around 90-degrees (F.), with a bright, glaring sun.
Due to the Hot Water tank out of commission for several days, I showered in the locker room of the fairgrounds this morning. Talk about a life centered around one's job!
The work day began early - 6:00 A.M. After cleaning the bleachers in Freedom Hall for the Horse Show audience (another Sell-Out Crowd! [A joke, son! The attendance ranked below one for the Opera]), we joined the Stadium Crew in fixing up the ballgame.
Only 7 ½ hours today - we were discharged for the 2:00 hour.
Louisville, KY.
At least I know my lessons were examined and graded. According to a hand-written 'Memo' from Vicki Omailay (?) of the Independent Studies Department of the University . . .

(acerca 10:17 P.M.) . . . Lessons 1, 2, and 3 left Tuscaloosa July 26, followed closely by Lesson 4 on the 29th. All were sent to the 600 Seneca Avenue address.
I doubt if I will ever lay eyes on the assignments! But at least each was inspected before they went to their deaths! I am curious as to the grades: I suppose it will be revealed on my Report Card.
I learned today Cleaning-Up does not mean to really clean. A pile of trash was left behind by the 'crowd' watching the U. of L. scrimmage, in the Blue Section. When I went to pick it up, I was shouted down. Even the Acting Foreman was against the pick-up.
So just what does Cleaning up mean out at the fairgrounds?

(15th, About 5:12 A.M.) As you can see I am making an early start at this day - I am to be at work at 7:23 A.M., and the city buses began their eratic operation a little after 6:00 A.M. I want to get there early and shower.
Last night, while in a queue at Wal-Mart's check-out, Buckles said something to me which confirmed a suspicion I long have held - he is more a Circus Fan than Circus 'Star.' Mary had purchased material for wardrobe; Buckles and I was talking about a 'new' look for me. He mentioned Clown pants. What are those, I asked? He said, Pants that are 'funny,' like those worn by the Ringling Clowns.
Only a flustrated Star feels this way about the Clown Alley of the Ringling show. For those 'Painted Faces' are not the Proto-typical Clowns, due to popular belie. Those that lean towards this way of thinking 'never had it' in the ring.
Buckles has all these plans for a Clown Duo that will play Birthday parties and such locally. A pipe dream? Why hasn't he been doing this sort of thing all these years?
Buckles claim to be free of desperation; but isn't he still clinging to . . .

(acerca 8:20 P.M.) . . . life in the ring? Isn't he like Frank Brown, who feels he should be 'picked' by every producer/what-have-you, because he is so great?
Recall the years between 1977 and 1981: I did 'spot dates' in Birmingham and surrounding area. Everything from Flea Markets to Street - I presented my services, for pay and for free. At that time - after a 8-9 month cooling off period, I wanted to keep my hand on Clowning and Mime. This time, however . . .
After damn near six months, I came to the end of James Michner's "Alaska." The longest time I have every spent on a single book. Full-time work does take away from novel-reading! I suppose it will be a while before I am able to take on another one.
Speaking of work, it was a rough session today. I lifted about a hundred heavy, HEAVY!! Horse corral fence poles from the holes! Not with brute strength, of which I have none, but with science and body mechanics. Needless to say, my fellow workers were amazed:
and I was (and am) tired! My legs got the brunt of the picking-up, so that is where I am 'smarting.'
And, of course, there was other chores.
The next two weeks will be hell, as far as Work is Concerned!
It was a hot, bright day. The afternoon was drawn into the mid-nineties-degree (F.). A beautiful summer day.

(16th, Around 6:32 P.M.) Well, at least I can take my shower at home now! The Hot Water Heater has been re-installed!
But as I figured, I am having to do my own laundry. Buckles stated yesterday evening that he would do mine, along with his and Mary's, this morning.
All day I dreaded the outcome of the declaration.
So, after a long, hot day at the 'office,' I am relying on my own organijation, and am here at Okalona Laundry, a half-mile or so from the house, on Preston Avenue.
A hot, baking Monday, the temperature peaking around 96-degrees (F.).
Phoebus wore Shining Armour all day.
An overheated August 16, 1993; work, once the portable Deck Seating was in, was to 'gather' the folding chairs and tables that were under tents back behind the stadium in the Picnic Area. Willie Davis was my partner, Jeff and Roy pitching in a little now and then.
Guess want? I lost five dollars this morning!
Waking early this morning (I was under so much muscalar trauma last night Sleep avoided me for the longest!) in order to get to the fairgrounds early for showering.
I hit the A.T.M., located in Thornton's (a Convenient Store) up for $5.00. And you know how zombic I am for a long period after waking - especially when the hour is before 5:00 A.M., and sleep was fitful!
Well, I was sitting by the Horse Barnes (I showered in one of the Shower Rooms opening to the outside, in the rear of the East Wing - eating a breakfast of 3 doughnuts and milk, purchased at Thornton's, when, upon checking my Fanny Pack, the five dollar bill was absent!
Thinking someone may have entered by stealth while I was showering, I returned to the Washing Room. But apparently I missed when I supposed to have stored the bill in the pack. Luckily I had crumpled a one dollar bill into my right hip pocket - otherwise, I would not have had the fare for the bus around 5:10 P.M.
Louisville, KY, around 6:32 P.M. Needless to say, it has been quite a day! No telling what the next two weeks will bring!

17 August Tuesday), Louisville, KY

I 'enjoyed' TWO showers this morning: the first one here at the house. And it felt so good to take it BEFORE leaving for the fairgrounds.
However, I still had to suffer a fairgrounds 'shower'; for the rain fell heavily this morning. Walking to the bus stop, waiting on the bus, then walking through Gate Six from Preston, upon debusing, to the Time Clock Room - there was no way I was going to get out of that one! The gods were insistant that I become 'purged' before work!
The Storm began around 4:00 A.M. The Pre-State Fair Opening Celebration was spectacular with 'booms!' of thunder and Scob Ligting.
My socks were wet all day. I hope I wasn't set-up for an Illness!
I didn't leave work until 6:00 P.M., the final two hours as a 'volunteer,' sweeping the stadium.
The seventeenth of August 1993, which, this year, falls on a Tuesday.
A wet day in Louisville, KY.; Phoebus punched in, though, around mid-afternoon. As we all know, that stirred up the Humidity. It was steaming and hot.

18 August (Wednesday), Louisville, KY

I will moniter this situation very carefully! Very carefully!
Buckles and Mary are having a disagreement that may be difficult to settle. It all began after Buckles split with Kentuckiani, the Nursing Agency he was registered with.
I will keep you updated on the situation, theirs and mine.
No one is paid during the Fair, so this Wednesday, August 18, 1993, was payday.
A nice renumerative pay - $238.53. I was able to sneak away with $183.62. That was with 10.75 hours of overtime. In the week ahead the checks will be heavy - the State Fair demands more than 8 hours each day from us to stay around for the eleven days!
I punched out at 6:15 P.M. (actually 6:10 P.M.) this evening.
I received a 90 - A minus - on Lesson 5. Finally one caught up with me! Of course it was the first one with the new address, so that has made it easier.
When I have more time I will review the corrected paper.
It was a bright, warm day. I wish I could write the work session was bright and warm! I suppose I will never convert those people to Organization and Efficiency. Why am I trying, anyway? Do I actually think these people, after 6,7,8 years at the fairgrounds, would be persuaded to 'experiment' with a method which has done the job good enough all these years to be kept on the state payroll?
Let it ride - I won't be there all that much longer!

19 August (Thursday), Louisville, KY

It's just as well that my residency in Louisville, KY. ends in December (after Thanksgiving: the situation between Buckles and Mary is rapidly deteriorating. I doubt if I will have 'control' much longer.
But I don't regret this experiment. I'm glad I have been provided with lodging as I continue my education, both by books and the hands-on learning through association with the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center. I just hope the knowledge from both sources is not 'wasted.' It is sure to improve me as a person, and my Performance if I am drawn back into that arena.
As you recall, I doubted all along the formation of a Clown Duo. From the years of being kicked in the ass, I can sence a Good Intention-but No Carry Through proposition.
Nice try, however.
August 19, 1993, Opening Day of the 1993 Kentucky State Fair. It is a beautiful Thursday for the Kick-off: Bright and Spring-like. Phoebus must be planning on 'throwing out the opening pitch.'
I report to work at 10:53 P.M.; it will be a long time before I spend the night in my room.
I deposited $344.10 into my PNC Band checking account, not far east of Preston Highway on the north side of the Outer Loop, at 9:48 A.M.
From the It's Really a $1.00 store, behind the bank, I laid out $5.30 for 3 plungers, a coping saw, ad an Elmore Leonard (whoever that is!) novel, "Bandits." With the exception of the book, the gear will be used to start up my Clown Service once again.
Mary saw me naked this morning: I walked from the bathroom to my room 'dressed' the way I showered. Mary, seated on the 'far' end of the couch, was stationed at the right spot.
Of course I will grab this chance to 'display' for Mary! She's female, isn't she?

20-21 August (Friday-Saturday), Louisville, KY

(20th) It happened at the lunch break - 3:00 A.M. Incredibly, just as everyone was 'together' for refreshment.
Was the gods declaring their appreciation for a sensational fair?
Or was it dis-pleasure?
Was the gods helping with clean-up? For the lower tier of seats in the stadium sure got washed down!
Or was the purpose to hinder the clean-up?
Maybe the gods was continuing their Revelry with their own Party!
Whatever it was, it was quite a storm! Zephyr was most mysterious and energetic. Uncontrollable rain, as if the gods just turned everything loose.
The Band was exceptionally loud and rancous.
The Lighting Designer failed to tone down the Effects.
And all this went on display, reached the height, for everyone to see. How arrogant can those gods be!
August 20, 1993; a 9:45 A.M. punch out. A long, confusing, flustrating shift.
I got a chance to hear the closing moments of the Reba NcIntyre show. Why do people lionize this woman? Her 'talent' isn't 'above the ordinary'! Are people that eager to try and feel their empty lives by 'borrowing' from a Commercial Success? How pathetic!
Friday in Louisville, KY.; it was hot and bright, the Speech not lasting long. By late morning, it was as if no Tantrum had taken place.
Buckles and Mary are on Cease Fire once again (I wonder how long it will be observed this time?). Buckles has a new job with a Vending company.
Ben will most likely be around here for a spell. Jerri, his 'mother is an unfit parent, and cares more about slutting with her married, older lover than caring for her child.
This situation is all too common; and it's usually this sort of person (the maternal and paternal 'jokes') who are Pro-Life. Sure, as long as they can continue their partying ways! They have no conception that parenting is a full-time job!
Bill makes no financial contribution to Jerri's household; Jerri, who quite two jobs to please her lover, still holds to him.
This is all too much! Damn! if I can understand how people can do this to themselves!
It was my big idea to experience the Kentucky State Fair, so I must endure the knocks and abuse. And with those cretons I receive many!
Can I really make it until December? I know I am after Character Building and discipline, but must I wallow in slime and muck for the project? What point am I really trying to make?
Maybe it's the pressure of the fair, but the mental strain wears me out more than the muscalar trauma does!
Another 11:00 P.M. check-in tonight; no telling when the Erodus will be tomorrow!

(21st, About 7:46 P.M.) Today was a tad cooler than yesterday. Although the sun was just as bright and piercing, an early morning Breeze left behind the makings of a Fall day.
Another 9:45 A.M., departure from work this morning; however, the session which begins a little after 11:00 P.M., tonight will be far from casual. For its time to change back to the Horse Ring in Freedom Hall.
Mostly mopping and cleaning during the last job-assignment.
A female have joined the crew. Not a sensational, but she is a woman, at least. Red-headed, short, and plump, I may be able to start something.
You know, the days are sure speeding up, with every minute attacked to a duty. Sure, my fairgrounds tenure is assuaged by Time, but it also keeps me away from study, practice, and the really important things.

22-23 August (Sunday-Monday), Louisville, KY

(22nd) Hell, I just awoke from sleep, and it's time once again to plan the Work session! I didn't get home until around 2:00 P.M. - fortunately, #18 TARC came by Thorton's within 20 minutes of the Punch-out time of 1:00 P.M.
For it was a long day! It was a gorgeous one, however, at least what I saw of it.
The twenty-second of August 1993; and the Horse Ring is back in Freedom Hall. The Kentucky State Fair once again has been given over to Equine Fans, instead of the horse's asses that thought their show was the popular events.
Louisville, KY., on a Sunday.
For some reason, I don't feel degraded or 'dirtied' by being a fairgrounds employee. I don't know if I can carry through past December, but my duties, with the exception of Performance, aren't all that different from Circus. And as I have said many times before, the 'ambience' (people, etc.) is damn near identical!
But I wonder if the North American Cattle Show require this much overtime? Sure, the boost to the bank account is warmly welcomed, but it is impossible to squeeze in all that is clamoring for my attention.
This, my friend, is the real Working world! That I can handle it after so many years of 'Part-time' life is a credit to my adaptability and stanima.

(23rd, Around 7:47 P.M.) Mary has taken a 12-pack of wine coolers, and is soaking in the tub. Buckles is not yet home from his job, and I think Mary suspects him of protracting his work day in order to be with his female supervisor for an extended route-learning session.
I doubt it, but Mary hunts for any excuse to drink.
As for me, I finally got a tryst with flute, being that work ended at 7:54 A.M. And I am re-programming myself for the Boxes. My flexibility is shaky, but I can get it back in a week or two. For I still have the spiritual connection with the manipulation.
It was a hot, bright afternoon, after a coolish morning.
I left Carson and Barnes because of the stress and tension, and my intermittent job is becoming full of the same assault! The Work Period which began late last night was most annoying, to put it mildly.
Damn! but I need a non-Amusement Business residency! Although I have a feeling anywhere would overwhelm me. That's just the way I am!
I received the 'go-ahead' from Dr. McKenzie to proceed with that Analytical Thinking from Experience Contract. Step Four is to be done (the first 3 steps were a part of the Orientation assignments).
In other words, I am working on six credit hours, and time is diverting me to job, practice, etc. The week due me is already set aside for Study!

(acerca 8:20 P.M.) Today is Monday. I have $589.36 in my bank account. Maybe I can get it up to a grand before I 'retire' in December.
Correction - Mary didn't get drunk in the tub; it was a box of sanitary napkins she took with her. Seems she is mentuating after a 6-month free spell. It's the onset of a belated Menopause.

24-26 August (Tuesday-Thursday), Louisville, KY

(24th) I almost forgot to record this day! That is how much work is traumatizing me!
This past session was the worse insult I have ever have inflicted on my spirit! It seems as if by being there was cause for everyone to 'beat me around.'
Especially that Bill Murdock; I can't believe this guy has the audicity to even PRETEND bossiness! I had to tell him to go fuck himself.
I doubt if I will go back after the upcoming lay-off period. Who would have thought Mopping would be so stressful?
The twenty-fourth of August 1993, a yellow, hot, breezy Tuesday in Louisville, KY.
I refuse to allow a nothing job like the Fairgrounds to tear me apart! But it hard to shop around if time has to be devoted to it!
Is it my punishment for what I did to Chuck Davenport?
I have been wondering of late: should I have carried through? Could I have been as violated as I am being at the fairgrounds?

(25th) The University must have cashed that tuition check - for my bank account has dropped to $300.36. I'm not worried - there won't be anymore School Charges for a while, so I have hopes of pumping up the Cash Cache.
52 cents to mail off Lesson Six this afternoon, from the Oklalona branch Post Office. Three one-cents stamps already were hovsed in that upper-right corner, so only 49 cents was taken from me.
Louisville, KY; a hot Wednesday (lower-90-degrees F), but hazy and opaque. However, the sun did appear in person for a while this afternoon.

Finally! An Eight Hour day! Our only duties were sweeping and mopping, and we finished that up around 6:30 A.M. But tonight and tomorrow will be ravishing: the Horse Ring will be taken down and the Hall readied for a concert. It will be a long, hard work session, most likely lasting until early afternoon tomorrow.
August 25, 1993; working the Boxes require continual semi-squatting and constant 'bouncing.' The glutei (butt muscles) play a major role. As you well know, it has been more than 8 months since I last Boxed. Movement being specific, the Muscle group that is responsible for this manipulation has to rebuild Momentum.
My ass is sore. This slows me down on the job. But if I am to present a sensational Box Act, I must pay the Piper.
I heard my Gary Puckett last night (a free concert at the stadium; as I waited for Punch-in, I 'overheard.'). The man can still belt out the beautiful tones.
Puckett is a singer frem the mid-sixties ('Young Girl,' 'Woman'); old Rockers seem to improve with age. How about old Mimes?

(26th, About 8:20 P.M.) I have got to have time for Study and Practice! Even if it means delegating Work to the bottom of the list!
I may 'retire' after the State Fair until the preparations for the North American Cattle Show are begun in October. Those 6-7 weeks, even though they would be costly, could be well used.
A humid day - very damp and muggy. Of course I was in the Coliseum most of the day, helping to set-up the Kentucky Country Ham Breakfast, an annual State Fair event which draws the governor (Bereton Jones) and the 'Elite' of Louisville and Kentucky.
The breakfast was inside the Horse Ring, so I was wrong: that traumatic experience doesn't happen until Sunday. Three more 'easy' Work Sessions, and then the attack!
What will be my post-Fair plans?
I undressed while Ali talked with me last night (she was on her way to sleep, traveling on my 'bunk' - Mary, Jerri, and Tanya had momentarily vacated the house). The child is very interested in what I carry around, and she appreciated the fact that I am able to causually undress in front of her. I think it brings us closer.
Ironic, isn't it: I wanted to 'fit in' with the people at work, but I am offended that people see me as a part of that work force. I suppose the project has more than succeeded, and it's time to bring it to a close.
Besides, the goal - working the Kentucky State Fair - has been reached. After the Moo Cow Show, the experiment will be a diseaster if I still keep at it.

27-28 August (Friday-Saturday), Louisville, KY

(27th) I wonder why Bobby Greenwell is 'considerate' of me? Green, as he is called, is officially on the Coliseum Crew, but is usually 'caring' for the Baseball field.
An older man, for some reason he is nice to me, always inquiring whether or not I have had enough to eat, etc.
Apparently my fellow employees belong to the clan who perceives meekness, i.e. not swapping insult for insult, as weakness. Everyone is attempting to get me away from worrying about mopping, sweeping, etc., not to care, not to take any of it seriously.
Could it be that I am a topic of conversation? Do these people really want to keep me in the 'company'?
The twenty-seventh of August 1993 - a hot, humid, bright Friday in Louisville, KY. This morning we did the unthinkable - Mack dismissed us at 6:45 A.M.! During the fair! That meant only 7 hours and 15 minutes on the job, but who cares? It will be made up Sunday afternoon in taking down the Horse Ring and returning Freedom Hall to concert-readiness!
I began car-pooling this morning - with Doug.

(acerca 6:16 P.M.) The movie Buckles and Mary wanted to see badly, SUPER MARIO Bros. - it__ as on the VCR, and is such as enjoyable flick that Buckles and Mary have fallen victums to Sleep!
What a great movie!
Green 'arranged' the carpool - he was the one who opened discussions, and made it possible for Doug to set it all up.
Ron 'Daddy' Shiehel also participates in the carpooling.
A new 'varible' to the experiment; I don't know how long the association will last, but I might as well jump on the opportunity to study in depth the Carpooling Blue Collar lifestyle and mentality.
I am to be stationed in front of Super America, a convenient store a few blocks east, on Preston Highway, between 9:30 and 9:45 tonight, and Doug should be by.
What's next - partying with the crew?
I am re-establishing ties with the Boxes. Depending on the 'give' of the Wardrobe trousers, the display should be 'something else.' Hell, I have already received positive comments - and that was only practice!
One more 'light' Work Session, and than Wham-O!

(acerca 8:25 P.M.) While sweeping under the seats I found 29 cents, an umbrella, and a can of Miller Lite beer (unopened, of course - why would I ever carry away a used container?!). The umbrella will be most useful when Rain comes for a visit; and I imbibed the beer already.
So don't tell ME this job doesn't pay well!
I pick-up trash by bending over, not folding at the knees. When the trash is below the level of my feet, the stretch is really protracted!
No telling what will be my post-Fairgrounds project. If it is a resumption of Clowning, I am ready for it.

(28th) It seems the more beligerent I am at work, the more the 'guys' want me on the crew!
I ain't one of them! I am just there for a brief spell, but these people are hospitable - relative to their 'world.'
August 28, 1993; today is Saturday. By Calculation yesterday was Friday.
A warm, bright day in Louisville, KY. The Work Session ended at 7:06 P.M., giving us 7 hours and 45 minutes.
I slept most of the day; for Work will most likely extend to mid-afternoon tomorrow. Although only mopping and sweeping of the seating area, this Session coming-up will include a change-over from the Horse Show to a concert tomorrow night.
The fair concludes tomorrow. Assuming that I stay on a while longer, this night work will also end. And boy! will I be ever glad!
Due to the protracted Sleep, I am sorry to say I can't report much. Maybe - most likely - I can tomorrow.

29 August (Sunday), Louisville, KY

(About 9:23 P.M.) I had just turned my 'clock' around, re-arranging my Cicadian rhythum. And what has happen? It's a return to the Post-Kentucky State Fair nornal schedule of day shift! Even though I like it better that way, I am going to have to re-program for that 'life.' Hopefully that won't take as long as it did for the Fair work.
We work until 1:30 P.M., this afternoon! And the mopping was on half-ass. Oh, well, if this is the way they want it, it's their baby!
Regular Shift also means a return to the pre-Fair commute: Doug doesn't come by this way in the mornings. So I will have to rely on Buckles or the bus to bring this project to a conclusion. I am going to try to hold out until after the North American Cattle Show in November, but I don't know: we are speaking more than ten weeks I have already achieve the original goal of experiencing the Kentucky State Fair - this Cow Show was a later 'add-on' to the experiment. And maybe I am too bold in expecting the Lab Work to also include that variable. Maybe I am overloading the Project!
It was a hot and eye-hurting day - at least what I was given a glimpse of.
Washing clothes mid-afternoon; with so much to do (I am so behind on my study! And the Boxes demand more 'caring for' - even though I have a feeling this Video Vault 'gig' is not as important as Mary and Buckles are making it out to be!) why did I nap this evening more than four hours? Fatique is such a Bitch and insist that She is attended to, even if nothing else is! I sure hope the return to diurnal work will be able to meet some kind of compromise with Fatique!
Of course, 9 ½ hours of intense labor does have a tendency to wear one out! Besides, at my age, what makes me think I can take on so much?
I was hoping the Week was here; I have so much to do, I could have used the Catch-up. But I am forced once again to legerdemain.
