well ive been back on the rig for a few days. so begins my long stretch out here! still havent see adam :( his car was indeed totaled so he doesnt have transportation right now so he wouldnt even be able to come down to visit me if he wanted. again, still super excited to start my new BC pills. my face really has been having more issues lately even when i have been diligent about taking care of it. i looked at the dosages and this one has 1 mg instead of .5 mg of the same main hormone. i think the secondary one is like .25 mg instead of .35 mg but i think the first one is the major one that affects me.

this well has had so many issues. so this is supposed to be the second lateral on this pad. they went in to drill out cement, and as usual kept the gamma tool off and didnt take surveys because we already knew where the borehole was. they drill out, then once they think they should be through all the cement and out a ways they took a survey. the inc read a 67. ummmm what? the gamma was reading 500. ummmm, wwhhhatttt?? check whats coming out over the shakers, its shale. what the hell is this shit? obviously the company man blames the tools first, but chad did a test and the tools were fine, and the samples dont lie. after the shale samples came up that looked like three forks. too bad we're doing a middle bakken well...

this is whats looking like happened. apparently the casing is not the same thing as the cement. the casing is like a metal casing that goes down and the cement holds it in place. the casing was likely not long enough so when we went down to drill it was able to break through the cement. also the cement may have separated down hole which may also have played a role in this. so basically they pulled everything out and put a new bha down the hole just to verify the measurements and take a bunch of surveys to more accurately see where the borehole went. then they filled in the accidental sidetrack with cement and i believe they filled in the original borehole up to like 11,100 or so. let it set then we went back in. it wasnt dried after 40 hours so they let it sit more until it was. so we drilled out that new cement then i guess started a sidetrack by going through the cement on the side.

this is where we are now basically. we have been waiting all day i think for the mud to be right. essentially we are going to be redrilling some of the curve starting in the upper bakken. because of this we had to switch back to invert, and if this works and we can drill the lateral we will have to keep it in invert because the shale will swell up with salt water which could get us stuck. not to mention the shale has high gas amounts so its easier to control the gas and weigh down the mud in oil based stuff. i am supposed to do 10' samples all during this though so that kinda sucks :( jim said to do them until we get to an inc of 90 then i can switch back to 30' samples. i thought they were going to be at least halfway through things by the time i came on but i guess not. its already 11:30pm and we have been sitting here all night. im cool with this. less samples for me to catch!

i did go down to teddy roosevelt national park on like the 13th since we werent doing anything and i hadnt switched to sleeping during the day quite yet. it was like 90 degrees out so i typically wouldnt hike but it was the only chance i would get so i took it. i hiked to one of the prairie dog towns, it was fairly short and not too much elevation change so it was good for me. i forgot to bring my string bag out here with me so i didnt have a backpack of any sort. huge mistake, i definitely needed more water and got a little dehydrated and it took me all night to get rehydrated. but other than those things i havent done a whole lot as usual. i guess i am learning what to do with sidetracks though.

oh i forgot to write about last weekend. so saturday i went to the farmers market with adam and nicole. omg soo huge! very awesome, lots of fresh produce (obviously), baked goods, sweets, and like food trucks and vendors. there was also music going on and it was such a great time overall. sunday i went to their house for a cookout and that was also fun. we, along with their friends, played volleyball and kan jam. i finally met carl haha. we also played a game at the end of the night that we'd played before so that was fun. nicole also got a new job at a lab in town :) oh and i finally applied for my passport! yay! i can go out of the country if i really want now (well once it comes that is)! haha side note, adam isn't allowed in canada until he is 32 because he essentially got a dui there when he was 22, dumbass... ok now i think thats about everything!
