Minor life changes coming

Over the last couple of months I have been on "blood thinners" to get me prepped for a procedure called a cardioversion. My doctors had discovered I was having atrial flutter and they figured the cardioversion would possibly put my heart back into a correct rhythm.

Well, I had the cardio version done last Friday, they said after only one zap my heart went back into a proper sinus rhythm. YAY ME!!!

I go back to family doc next week for initial follow up and then in a couple of more weeks I see the cardiologist for his follow up to make sure the fix stuck.

The last couple of days I have been a bit jittery...And at my endochronologist appt the other day the nurse said my pulse was up a bit.

So yesterday I started checking my pulse to see if the flutter returned. It didn't feel like it was doing the rhumba like it did before the cardioversion but it did seem a bit fast.

I downloaded one of the apps for my phone that will check pulse using the cellphone camera. I know those are not totally accurate but I figured I could get a better visual of what the pulse was looking like since it shows a readout similar to an EKG.

It showed I had a pulse of 107...that is a bit higher than my normal 70-80. I started getting a little concerned.

I started thinking about what I may be doing different that could be causing this and the main thing that came toi mind was my soda intake. My normal routine for the last several months had been to have one caffienated soda in the morning at breakfast time (Diet Mt. Dew) since I don't do coffee. And then a flavored non-caffienated soda at lunch. ANd then pretty much just water the rest of the day.

Well, lately I have been out of my non-caffienated sodas so I have been drinking two Diet Mt. Dews per day. I started thinking that maybe the extra caffiene is what is getting my heart racing. O I cave decided to stop drinking the Diet Dew and just switch to water during the day.

Checked my pulse first thing this morning using that cell phone app...it was 75. Maybe I am on to something.

Oh, yeah, an the wife finally said let's go down and start the gym membership that she suggested almost a month ago. So now maybe I can start getting in some formal exercise.
