Almost T-Day

Day after tomorrow....Turkey Day (aka Thanksgiving)!

I have been following suit with many on Facebook, posting daily something that I am thankful for. I know it shouldn't be too hard to come up with stuff, after all I live in a free country, am not impoverished, and overall am doing okay.

But, now that the month is nearly gone I find it harder and harder to come up with non-generic things I am thankful for.

With the holiday coming in just two days I am sitting here thinking that my wife is slowly seeping her need for isolation into the rest of us.

Although I have to agree that I do not wish to spend every holiday with the family of our daughter's boyfriend (they never speak to anyone, never really help with preparations, and always seem to either disappear into a back room to play video games or plant themselves in front of a television watching football)I feel like my wife is using this to help in trying to make everyone come to her.

Yes, last year we provided a majority of the main meal, chairs, table, etc. for our daughter's first try at hosting Thanksgiving. And even though it was cold in her house (the furnace was not working properly) we were all together.

The same for Christmas, last year.

This year our daughter again wants to host. And seems to be planning a little better this year. But my wife wants to not go, so we aren't going.

She doesn't want to go to the daughter's, but she also doesn't want to host either. Anymore, the holiday dinners are just a slightly bigger than normal dinner around our house. We aren't religeous, we don't have any major traditions, nothing. It's just a day off from work.

The wife even proposed that we basically just spend the day in PJ's. Although to many this may sound like a nice alternative to the hustle and bustle associated with the holidays, but to me this is just making the holidays even less special than it already is becoming.

I am doubting that my wife will even want to do a quick visit to our daughter's house on Thurday.

It will be interesting to see what we do for Christmas.
