How Paul relates to the Gospel

The gospel is the most important communication between God and man. The bible shows us that we are sinners and have offended God. Because of this we are separated from God and are dead in our sins. In our sinful nature we cannot please God and should be damned to suffer in hell. Since we are incapable of removing sin through our own efforts God sent his only son Jesus to die on the cross for us. Jesus being God in the flesh was obedient to the will of the father and bore the sins of the world on his body. Jesus was chosen by God in his eternal purpose to become a servant to men. Jesus went from place to place doing the work of the father healing and performing miracles that demonstrates His deity. If you follow Jesus Christ you are aware of the difference he is making in your life. As a believer you are in a unique community. In Paul’s message to the Philippians he is giving instruction to be like Jesus. We are to take on the status of a servant to each other and the world. Jesus had equal status with the Father but didn't use that to his advantage. He became a servant to all preaching the gospel and when the time came he set aside the privileges of being a deity and took on the status of being a human. In a humbling fashion Jesus he lived a selfless, obedient life and died a selfless obedient death. Because of that obedience, God lifted Jesus to the highest place in heaven so that all things will bow in worship before him. I think that Paul is trying to show that the life of Jesus was and is the Living gospel and that as Christians we are to have a heart like Jesus. We are to live in love and put aside selfish pursuits so that we can help others get a head. Just as Jesus was a sacrifice for us we are to be a sacrifice to other so that we win souls to heaven and glorify Gods name. By confessing His name as lord to the world Jesus is going to come back for us and lift us up with him to the right hand of the father. The main message that Paul is trying to get across is that Christ himself is the premier manifestation of the character of God, which God is trying to reproduce in his people. In scripture this is the same message of the Gospel
