Poem - "The Bare Essentials"

Solitude and separation,
Quietness and isolation,
Paper and pen and a place to write
That's far away and out of sight
From those who don't understand,
A place to land
And space to fly,
Nobody to ask why,
Only those who look beyond
The deceptive surface of the pond,
A door that opens to the void of sin,
Another one to get back again,
A shelf full of books and rhymes,
Even a drink or two sometimes,
A grassy embankment under a clear blue sky,
The power to feel, to love and to cry,
The power to search with a fiery eye,
And then, one day, the power to die.
And the rest is just details.
