Pickett and Son TV Internship
2012-01-17 01:57:28 (UTC)

day 6

I spent most of the day researching service manuals for tv sets. I found several new sites to gather schematics to help fix tvs. Mr. Pickett took the ax to a few sets out back while I was there, so I photographed him doing that, so people can see what we do with excess. I then updated the web site to show some of the behind the scenes work that people often never see. For example, people should know that dropping off old sets behind our shop doesn't help. A forty year old set won't sell and not too many people care to have them fixed, since there are newer, lighter sets available. Communicating this type of stuff is important in dealing with the public. We generally don't take very old sets and we are not a pawn shop, so most of the time we don't buy any. We do business some other tv shops but only because of the level of trust.
