Where We Stop, Nobody Knows

So lunch comes around. Like always, right? 12:05 the bell rings and me and Brigitte walk to lunch.

Well today I forgot my wallet so I complain about this to Brigitte cause I'm hungry and then we say bye and I start to walk - the same way I've been walking since the school year started.

Since he's been gone a week from school, I kind of didn't expect him to be sitting there where he usually sits, which I walk behind normally.

But to ADD to that surprise, he was looking at me. Directly at me (which it technically isn't very hard to spot me since it's the very beginning of lunch and people are just beginning to form lines in the lunch lines and trickling to their seats).

Anyhow, so as I get closer, I wave and he's still just looking at me like he expects me to talk to him, and so I did.

Starts off with hellos and then he says he likes my hat and so I comment that his hair could pass for a hat because it's kind of poofy and there was a moment of surprise on his face that I didn't really register until a few moments later because he said, "Yeah, that's what I said, too."

Great minds think alike I guess, but it still made me happy for some reason.

But so then it went to me saying "How was your week off of school?" To which he replied "Fulfilling." He asked me how my marching band thing went and so I said, "Fun. Tiring. Sweaty. And gross." He replied something that I couldn't hear very well, but his eyes made it look like he was asking a question and I heard the word marching band and so I kind of just nodded.

Then the conversation kind of died and so I said bye and so did he and I went outside to my table smiling.

Speaking of boys, there's this guy I liked last year who has a mohawk and such (the person I know reads this will know who) and since this year began he's almost always said hi to me in the hallways. Not only that, but sometimes I'll notice him passing and he's looking at me, too.

Did I suddenly just sprout horns and wings? He ALWAYS glances over at me when we pass. Usually on the way to third hour, sometimes on the way to fourth hour, and always on the way to sixth hour. Why? Can I just ask that? WHY? Not just the general "why" but WHY NOT LAST YEAR? WHEN I LIKED YOU?

What the hell.

And another boy (geez, there just all over the place today), Nathan. The blonde, preppy boy from my third hour that moved here from Minnesota (fyeahminnesota).

So today in everyone's English classes each student had to nominate people in their class for homecoming what-not. Me, being a junior, had to nominate princes and princesses.

Nathan's sitting next to me, coming up with random names because he hardly knows anyone. I'm coming up with people I just know.

Then as we're finishing writing down nominations, he holds his up to me and says, "I'm nominated you" and my eyes fall on my name on the paper. As soon as I see it, I gave the paper a "look" I guess of disapproval and he did his cute laugh (this kid IS pretty cute in many ways) and I kind of grinned and started scribbling on my paper. Then I said, "Nathan, what's your last name? Weber, right?" and so I nominate him too.

I wonder how nominations even work. Do they put EVERYONE's name on the list? I don't want to be homecoming princess. I'm not even going to the dance.

Sigh. So anyhow, today was an alright - good day.
