Torch Songs & Whiskey

It would be simple to retaliate.
Spend my heart raw with someone who doesn't matter.
In some moment of strange vulnerability, I could easily cave with the one person whose known me longer than any of them.
It would be poetic,
my voice railing raw to relinquish my miseries.
It would be easy to drink right through it.
The blissful perils of a night spent in uninspired lukewarm inklings scrounged up in retaliation.
I've done it before, so I've got no right to care.
But the honest truth is that if it was a meaningless fuck, I would barely blink.
Those things you can get out of your system.

But I'll turn my eyes, smile blankly, throw my cares to the wind, mincing my words and glances in drinks on one of the most debauched days of the year.
A holiday for vice.
I have every intention to drink my cares away.
