Wishing I was back on the cruise ship

Well it's been a while since i've wrote anything so I figured i'd
better start up again. This seems to help me keep my thoughts in
line. I just got back from a cruise. I left last Saturday and got
back yesterday (Thursday). I had a blast! You really learn about some
people when you're stuck with them for a week. Everything went well
except for when everyone was plastered. lol Grown 50 something year
old men swinging around poles in the dining room. lol Not excatly my
idea of a nice dinner. But none the less it was pretty hilarous.
I decided to come back to work today so I could get back in the swing
of things and now i'm not so sure it was a good idea. I got back and
i'm still caught up from when I left. That is definitely a good
thing. So now i'm just getting ready for this weekend and next week.
I had been considering looking for another job and now i'm pretty
sure that's gonna be my focus pretty soon. I'd like to get
a "Backpacks for kids" program started before I start seriously
considering another job offer. I really want to do something in the
community that will help others and who better to help than children.
I spoke with the principal from Albany Upper Elementary and she said
she does not think her kids are in that much need. I think it's a
little selfish if I may say so myself. I've actually fed some of her
students and still try to now that they are at the Jr. High. I would
hope that she would reconsider later on. But moving forward, I plan
to speak with the principal at Hammond Eastside Elementary. My hopes
is that they will say yes. If not the quest moves on to another
school. If all else fails I will change my focus to finding another
job then find a school around that area. Really, it shouldn't be too
hard.
On to what really pissed me off and made me decide I need a new job.
Well, it's actually been an ongoing things. You know little things
here and little things there. I started out as a receptionist, made
my way to the Training Coordinator and now I do Human Resources along
with being the Training Coordinator. I've been here five and a half
years and have made it pretty far. I feel like this is the highest
i'll go though. Not to mention my boss is so negative during meetings
it's ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, he is very understanding when it
comes to handling personal business and running errands every now and
then. That I do appreciate. But when he is just a rude old man you
can't do anything to change that.
Today at lunch everyone was asking how the cruise was. Mr. J (my
boss) asked if I met any prospects. Meaning a new man I guess.
Everyone at the table laughed and told him I already had a good
boyfriend. He then proceeded to tell everyone it's good to always
have a back-up. (Now mind you, I am newly divorced because my husband
was cheating on me.) I just stared at him as he carried on and never
paid any mind to the situation. He told everyone it's always good to
look that way you have another to back up the one you have if you
decide it's not gonna work. Then he tells everyone it's kinda like
the old saying with a job. "The best time to look for a job is when
you have one." Well, guess what ladies and gentlemen.....I know why
his wife left him. He's such a jerk!!!!!! I understand he was mostly
joking he should have really thought about what he said before he
said it. I for sure wouldn't be cutting jokes about people just up
and leaving there spouses considering his situation. Some people
have no respect for others and it shows.
I'm just ready for something new. Like I said before i'm at the
highest i'll be here unless Mr. J leaves. Which even if he leaves I
won't be able to take his position because I didn't get my Bach.
degree. Mr. Rick who is the CEO said he would find something new for
me. He said he would hate to lose a great worker like me. He even
said he would consider if Mr. J left to make this a satalite office
and make me office manager and have another regional director be over
me from a different region. I would enjoy that a lot. I also take
what he said as a great compliment. I think i'm ready for a change.
Some of these office people are wack though. Some aren't qualified
for their position and others are over qualified just using this as a
time to do as they please and pretty much have free rain and freedom.
A little change of the subject. The weather here has been BEAUTIFUL!
I couldn't ask for better weather. The highs are in the low 80's.
This weekend I really need to get some stuff done. I'll hopefully mow
the grass for one of the last times this season. (fingers crossed)
Then I just have little knick knack stuff to do inside; dusting,
sweeping and some mopping. Nothing too big. It's pretty easy to stay
caught up when you live by yourself.
OOOHHHHH, something exciting! While I was gone I missed a Jaycee
meeting. This is a local group of people between the ages of 18-41
that help volunteer in the community and to help with social
networking. I found out that we have elections in November to elect
new officers and I was nominated for secretary!! So exciting!!!!! The
officers we have now are ok and some can stay in there position if no
else is nominated and then of course voted in. I've only been a
member since August and I love it. I've missed a few functions but
try to make it a point to go to all of them. I love volunteering and
helping others and it's especially fun when your doing it with some
fun people. This group mixes volunteering and fun stuff together. Not
to mention they also like to drink and party with the best of them.
Well I think that sums it up for the most part right now. I will
hopefully be writing a little more often then previously.
