Karaoke- My Not So Secret Dirty Little Secret

Yeah, Karaoke. Oh the enjoyable singing of others. I was
bored and when Alsten offered it up, I was a little...
hesint. One, I don't sing. Never have, never will. I don't
think I'm very good and I bet others can agree. Two, I've
never been to a karaoke place. I knew I would feel a little
left out. But when Alsten offered it up, I saw a gleam
sparkle in his eyes. He liked karaoke. After a second of
thinking, I agreed. It may get my mind off Jase, my uncle,
and everything else that was troubling me.
We left and Alsten ordered his "pet" to keep the house
spotless. I rolled my eyes. Would I ever get over the "pet"
thing? Soon, we were out the door, and there was a car
infront of the house. I was a little amazed and wondered
where it came from but I didn't argue. Alsten was already in
the front seat before I knew it. HE wanted to drive.
Ha! I said no. Of course I would! He was a hell hound
from the underworld in a human body. Would you really think
he could drive? But he was already in the front seat. He
reassured me that he was trained by a few of the Greek gods.
I was still wary, but I agreed. He nearly got killed. Why
not let him go to karaoke and drive there? I was slightly
worried and asked him not to go too fast. Maybe I shouldn't
have said that. It took 3 minutes. TO GET OUT OF THE DRIVE
WAY! I could tell he was trying so hard not to laugh or
snicker. By the time we were FINALLY out of the drive way, I
shot him a look. He laughed and said he was kidding. I knew
he was or it would be a LOOONNNG trip. He drove normal and
seemed to know where he was going fairly well. We got there
and he joked that he was there about 30 years ago.
Well, anyway, we got there and there was a man who stood
at the front of the door. This place HAD to have been
important to have security, right?
"Name," the man demanded.
"Thomas," Alsten said.
"Go on ahead," the man allowed. I shot look at Alsten but
didn't ask questions. This was for his enjoyment and my
entertainment. There were wanted ads on a bulletin by the
door. We passed them and I payed no attention to it.
However, Alsten glanced at it. It was a wanted ad for
criminals who escaped.
"Alix," he called still looking at the sheet, "Jase
escaped." My breath caught and I stopped in my tracks.
"He did not," I said. "He couldn't have. You'd better be
joking," I said looking at the list. After all the jokes
today, I was hoping it was a joke. A bit of dark humor
perhaps? But sure enough, Jase's name was on the list along
with his picture. I don't know what I was thinking. I was
scared he escaped, I knew who he would come after, I wasn't
surprised he managed to escape, I was annoyed he got away,
and at the same time, I was hoping he might have changed and
escaped to apologized. There's hope, right? "Shoot," was all
I was able to say.
"Do you have your lightsaber," snickered Alsten. I shot
him a look and felt like slapping him lightly on the arm,
but just stuck my tongue out at him.
"Yes, I have it. Thank you very much," I sarcastically.
"Don't want to have to use it though," I admitted.
"Lets move. Stick together. You're going to have to
either way. I got your back. Lets move," he repeated. He
didn't have to tell me twice. I didn't like the look of that
place.
"Lets," I agreed. We found a table and sit down. All of a
sudden, the lights go out. I have learned to hide my
surprise until something bad happens. If the lights go out,
I learned to keep calm. If someone is screaming, I wait. I
wait until there is apparent cause for alarm. Like an attack
or something. That's when I get ready for anything. So, when
the lights went off, a guy went up and intro duced a few of
the singers. They sang to familiar songs I knew. The last
person was Alsten. He sang "Dirty Little Secret". It was
cute and entertaining.
UNTIL Jase showed up and crashed the party.
