Scarlet-Chapter 3

Chapter Three
She got out of her truck, with her camera in hand and
walked to the pond. The moon lit her way as she found the
reflecting water. she was right about one thing. the pond
was beautiful. A glittering rainbow trout jumped out of the
pond, sending ripples through the flawless water. She took
her black camera and turned off the flash. She didn't want
to wake up any bats, or other animals. she first walked to
wake up any bats, or other animals. She first walked to the
edge randomly snapping shots. She was about to take a
picture of the bridge when something stopped her. A man
stood there. He seemed to be glowing. With a closer look at
his face her head told her to run, but her heart told her to
help the poor man.
She ran to the bridge, and looked around. She couldn't
find him anywhere. She looked over to see him about to jump
into the river. She knew the danger of this so she yelled at
the top of her voice "STOP!!!!"
He turned around and looked at her. A smile graced his
lips. Suddenly he jumped. She didn't hear a splash. All she
heard was the running water. She ran to the edge scanning

the water, hoping to see some form of life. In her head all
she could do was hope. Hope and pray.
She wanted to scream, yell, anything to get him out but
instead she just listened. She heard no noise, but she
suddenly realized that the light was starting to get dimmer.
Clouds had strted to form, and they were covering the luminous moon.
She started scanning the dark water again.
Suddenly she saw something move. She took off her sweater
and jumped in. The water was freezing. She couldn't breath.
Her head finally emerged. She gulped in a huge breath. She
couldn't see anything. She started feeling around, hoping to
find him so she could bring him to shore. But all she could
feel was the ground.
Suddenly she was slammed against a huge rock. Pain
sliced through her back. She realized that she had floated
down river. Now all she was trying to do was save her own
life. Then all of a sudden she was slammed into another
rock. This time her head smashed into the rock. She could
feel the warm liquid running through her hair, and down her
neck into the freezing water. She was starting to loose
consiousness.
She felt someone pulling her out of the water. She was
so cold that she couldn't feel anything. It took her a few
minutes for her eyes to adjust. She could only hear ringing
in her ears. Slowly her vision started to return, but she
was starting to go unconsous. The last thing she saw was two
red eyes staring at her.
