First Try

Keeping a diary sounds old-fashioned to me; I heard a lot
of people say positively about diaries, but I don't think
many of them really get into the habit of keeping one. It
probably depends on personalities. A highly-disciplined
person may feel comfortable keeping records of his daily
routines, but a freewheeling person may find it annoying
to pay attention to details.

What about me? Why do I want to have a diary of my own?
Before I logged in this site, I have tried many popular
blogs like Yahoo, Wretch, Bloggers. However, I was a
little disappointed about them. Why? Although I am not
totally computer-illiterate, I don't know very much about
blogging. For example, I would like to have a different
front page design, but I have no idea how to do it. These
blog providers offer many templates, but I still want to
have my own style. Next, putting music on my blog is also
a big problem to me, and thiis step seems harder. That's
why I have no alternatives but give up in the end.

Then I wish to continue my English writing skills here. I
know I won't have too many opportunities to use English in
my forthcoming career as a public servant, but I still
hope to keep up with my English studies, including
listening, reading, speaking, writing and translation.
Perhaps I am heavily addicted to this beautiful language.
I enjoy reading anything about English learning tips. I
know my English is quite good, but I want to make it
better. And it's not easy to find an English speaking
environment in Taiwan. I have to create one. Other people
may ridicule or make fun of me; they will say:"You are not
going abroad and you don't work as a diplmat. You don't
need to communicate with foreigners. Why do you spend a
great deal of time studying it? Why don't you use your
spare time to do other activities like making more money,
getting married, exercising, etc.?" Yes,they are right,
but they don't realize that English perfection is my main
goal in life, and this is what I am proud of. I need to
sharpen my English constantly.

I am 34 years now and I am also considering participating
in many other activities such as learning German,
gardening, traveling abroad, photography, etc. So in the
years to come, I will definitely devote some of my time to
these activities. Getting married is out of the question
for me, because I don't want to be confined to household
matters and be responsible to others. I am responsible
only to myself, making sure that I enjoy good health, have
good sense and judgment and have wide life experience.
