Group Interview, sorta

Today at school (my last day!) There was a presentation from
an engineer at a local manufacturing company. The job lady
invited all 24 of us to come to it. He is looking for a
student to fill a summer position with the possibility of
permanent hire afterward.

Six people... counting me, showed up. Seriously people?
That's all we could muster? Although from a competition
stand point, the other five were not much competition for
me. I am neck in neck for first in the class with one other
guy, and he didn't how haha!

There was only one guy who may give me a run for my money on
this, and its not because he is more knowledgeable or
anything. I am actually more educated and have more
certifications. He just has the gift of gab. I tend to get
nervous and trip over my words when I am speaking to new
people.

So the interview. The presenter showed up drawings and
schematics and user manuals for his company's products. They
do dental equipment. I am not terribly interested in dental
equipment but the manufacturing part is great.

He was looking for someone with 2D and 3D modeling
experience. Preferably in Inventor. Who also has experience
with graphic design and or graphics programs and creating
line art. I had to restrain myself from jumping up going
MEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEM!

Its not bad for pay either. He said between $12 and $15,
depending on qualifications. I am hoping my bachelor's plus
my CSWA, Adobe Expert Cert and the Drafting Tech cert lands
me in the $14 or $15 range.

I am usually not very confident about these sorts of things.
I tend to quietly sit there and smile but never say much. I
tried to talk to him as much as possible without being
obnoxious. I never have any good questions though.

Anyways, I was the only one who had a portfolio and business
cards. As soon as he was done talking he walked right over
to me immediately. I actually got to show him everything and
he even turned back to a few pages to look again. He said I
am very well rounded and really liked how I am in the middle
of creative and technical.

I really really hope he calls me. I let him know I have to
leave town till Wednesday to help my mom move, he didn't
seem to mind too much.

The work site is only about 20 miles from my place. I
literally have to just drive down one street and make one
left turn lol. So its about 35 mins without traffic. The
hours are so much better than grave. 7am to 4pm. Of course
traffic in between at 4pm is a NIGHTMARE, so i could hope to
be home maybe around 5:30 or 6.

Lets see what else.

Oh I have been having some questionable 'baby' things coming up.

I have been walking around with a mildly upset tummy the
last few days. Also, I was in the middle of eating some of
my favorite ice cream (yes, I know, I'm diabetic... but I
didn't eat anything else the rest of the day!) and the taste
suddenly turned my stomach. Now, you guys don't know me
well, but those who do, know that I am a total ice cream
nut. I will eat it till I pass out and die. Any flavor. And
for some reason, cherry garcia made me feel kinda gross!

Add that to the fact that I pretty much sleep anytime I am
home instead of doing anything else. And, the smell of
bacon, which I normally like, completely turned my stomach
yesterday morning. I was ok while I was cooking it, mostly.
But after Z and I went to bed, o... m....g. I had to get up
and spray some air freshener around, the smell was making me
sick and I couldn't sleep.

Honestly, all of these things are a little fuzzy still. They
don't necessarily mean anything. Z's two friends are
completely convinced I am pregnant. (they both have pregnant
wives)

The one thing that makes me go Hmm, is the fact that I am
five days off from my period and I haven't had a single hint
of PMS. Usually exactly 7 days prior I turn into this
hormonal monster who walks around growling and muttering to
myself. I just flat out feel mean. To everyone. and I can be
downright nasty. The funny thing about that is that the sane
part of my brain is like trapped in a glass box in my head
watching the psycho flip out over nothing. I know I am being
a total nut job, but I can't seem to stop.

So usually this Dr. Jekyl and Ms. Jackass act lasts for
about a day or two, then it goes away. Then the day my
period is scheduled to start, I get mild cramps and then it
starts. Like clockwork.

This will be the first time I have had no major personality
disorder the week before my period. So its interesting and
worth noting I think.

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow afternoon, well two
appointments actually. One is my yearly gyno exam and the
other is to start my insulin injections.

Pills are not longer working all that well for handling my
diabetes. My sugars have slowly started rising again. They
are still within the safe levels, but the fact that
increasing my dosage to twice as much, hasn't changed
anything, Doc decided it was time for insulin.

She did say in 2007 when we met that she was pretty sure
that I would end up on shots sooner rather than later. She
was totally right.

So I am getting on the shots for myself and any possible
baby. They are unsure of the effects on the pills on
fetuses. So pretty much all diabetic women are put on shots
for their pregnancy then put back on pills after breast
feeding is over. But I will just stay on the shots. I don't
mind so much.

My mom is deathly afraid of needles and when I told her I
was being switched to insulin she flipped out. OMG SHOTS
NEEDLES AHHHHH! Yes mom, needles. geeze.

I was once at the doctor when I was about twelve, I had a
massive allergic reaction to poison oak and was covered head
to toe in this nasty oozy rash. So they decided to give me a
steroid shot, which is normal for treating bad cases of
poison oak. I had a male nurse (go figure.. he was hot hot
hot too) They give you this shot in the deep muscle in your
ass cheek. And they use a 4 inch long 14gauge needle. So its
basically a rail road spike being stabbed into your ass muscle.

So I drop my drawers and am bending over in front of this
super hot nurse guy, and he whips out that needle. My mother
made this sort of half squeak and half gasp sound and passed
out on the floor. She literally fell out of the chair she
was sitting in and splatted on the floor. The nurse guy and
I kind of look at her, then looked at each other, confused.
He shrugged and gave me the shot, which was fine, I have
absolutely no problem with shots or giving blood or
anything. Then he got some smelling salts or whatever and
woke my mom up. God mom, dramatic much? lol. She does that
every time. The woman has like five tattoos? Wtf man?

Lol what a weirdo.

Z as a similar problem. He isn't really afraid of needles,
but his body reacts pretty seriously after being given a
shot. He gets pale and tosses his cookies.

Even my brother is a needle wussie. I went with him to get
the memorial tattoo that the three surviving members of my
family got in honor of my dad. Its a tiny design that goes
on the wrist and has his name and birth/death years. Its a
really simple design. Mine took all of 40 minutes to trace
and color in. My brother got DA 19 and nearly passed out.
The artist had to tattoo for only about a minute at a time
before my brother would have to take a break and drink some
water. And he was sweating profusely. And I don't think he
is scared of needles either. Hahaha.

I am apparently the only one who can handle to get shots and
blood taken and have it not affect me at all. I even watch
when they do it, meh. Whateva.

I think some people over think it. OMG they are taking blood
out of my body!!! Um, just don't think about it. Its over in
a few seconds anyways. When I was a kid I would focus my
mind on keeping my muscles as relaxed as possible and that
lessened the pinch considerably. It also occupied me long
enough that I didn't think about the fact that they were
stabbing needles into my flesh. So, I guess now as an adult,
I am completely unphased by it.

Well, I think that's all for now. I am feeling pretty brain
dead today. I had about three naps today and I am still a
little hazy from the most recent one. Z woke me up a few
minutes before we were supposed to leave for work.

ta ta for now
-D
