Silent Solitude

Silent Until Now...

My bad, wanted to continue where I left off.

Ok, apparently it takes me damn near two months to complete
this story. Well, Once the infection came back, I decided
to go to my mom's quack to see if he can do something. He
did drain it again but referred me to another doctor. After
that, the other doc told me to wait until the antibiotics
does it's job. Needless to say, I did. I also had to wait
for a month because that doctor was going on vacation.
That's why I didn't continue with the last entry. By the
way, the past February was probably one of the most hellish
schedules I worked in my life. Forget the staph shit, let
me tell you something about this past month.

Right now, I'm using my laptop instead of that netbook I
have because I want to get this out as fast as possible
before I forget. This past month, I had to work a full 40
hour week starting from 5 am to 3 pm for a month. That
included one week of an overnight shift from 10 pm to 8:30
am. That drove me insane. I was doing this schedule
because the company wanted to do inventory this year. The
prior year never happened due to cutbacks. This year was a
fresh start for some people (like myself) and for others it
was more like a nightmare waiting to happen (which I fall
into that category as well). I will say that it certainly
was an interesting month. Let's start with the introductory
3 days.

It was my first day of inventory and we basically were put
into teams. I was with my store so our store and another
2-3 stores were part of the team. You don't know what hell
is until you first start scanning items one by one and doing
audits. Overly tedious and completely mind-numbing.
Besides that, that first store was huge and I get the worst
part of the store which is cosmetics. That I did for a
fucking month of scanning little shit items and taking hours
upon hours to get it all done. Needless to say, not every
store had a cosmetics section, but my team ended doing the
most tedious of counting because apparently we were sought
as one of the best counters in the teams. I should have
fucked up on purpose to leave early. We all were told that
we can leave if we were unhappy. However, I couldn't
because of two things: 1) I was recently promoted to a new
position by the store manager. Had I quit the inventory
team, I would look bad in his eyes, and 2) Due to the fact
that he had no one else he could send, I reluctantly did say
yes. Besides, the only good thing about this was the fat
paycheck in my bank account. No one can say that it wasn't
worth it for the money. Believe me, it was worth every
goddamn penny...since now the money will be going to Advil
and some other drugs to get me over the pain of that month.
However, there were some interesting moments in that month.

One incident was with a co-worker of mine. He was told to
stay after work because the team leader wanted to talk to
him. I didn't know what was going on but I knew it wasn't
good. After that, rumors flew like crazy about this guy
getting fired for something he said. Apparently, he was
told that he was being thrown off the team because someone
has said that the guy I know told him something of a sexual
nature. Let me explain...the co-worker I know is a
gay...nuff said. From what I have heard, he said something
about the accuser to suck him off. Had I been there to hear
that, my ass would be rolling! Anyway, to make a long story
short, he was sent back to our store and he told me he
almost got fired since that was a human resources issue. I
know the guy and he's a semi-decent dude. However, no
matter what the guy said, it should have never been
escalated to that point. The other guys on my team were
certainly not happy to see him go. After that, two other
guys were let go from my team.

This time, it was due to bad counting. One of the guys was
seriously pissed off. He said something that he was told
that he couldn't count (figuratively speaking). The other
kid was just a bit upset but was happy to go back to the
store. The store manager wasn't that happy because now he
had to send replacements. That left only 2 guys from the
original 5 we had. Myself and this old guy I work with.
He's been with the company for almost 6 months. He's a good
man but he has some serious family issues. I don't want to
get into that because that's another long ass entry. Back
to inventory...so the replacements came and we just served
the rest of the month. It was ok to see how other store
were compared to our own. Some were prepared nicely while
others were absolute shitholes. A couple of store has
crappy locations while others had places I could spend a lot
of time in. It was an experience and certainly one I won't
forget.

Hopefully, I won't have to do this shit again next year.
I'm gonna throw a shit fit if it happens again.
