Life Among The Selected Few

Ignorance and Fear

For as long as I can remember, there have always been two
things which, sadly enough, our own government has used to
get the general population to go along with it on whatever
policies it has proposed, Especially during times of
uncertainty.
Ignorance and Fear have always been the biggest allies in
any government’s ability to control it’s people.
Fear is a great motivator in keeping people focused on
whatever threat, whether real or imagined. If you can
instill fear in your people, you can pretty much get them
to go along with anything. If you noticed during times of
economic crisis; local, state, and even the federal
government seem to always propose cuts in police, fire, or
military budgets. It gives people an uneasy and fearful
feeling that if they don’t go along with whatever is
proposed, these services will need to be cut, creating an
unsafe environment. They do this because they know that
people need to feel safe and will do anything to get it.
Governments and Government officials prey on that feeling
and use it to their advantage to get whatever it is
passed. The Bush Administration was very good at using
this tactic and a lot of older politicians, especially
Republicans still do. If you’ve been paying attention to
the healthcare debate, you know exactly what I’m talking
about. Seniors, especially, still believe the government
has their best interests at heart and are especially
vulnerable to these misleading words.
The other thing that is essential in controlling citizens
is ignorance. An educated people cannot be easily
manipulated. This is why, even in these United States,
many leaders decide cutting education is one of their
first priorities when times get tough, because people who
are unable to read or write are less likely to figure out
what the politicians are up to. Again, Republicans have
always used this to get their agendas through. Less
educated people are more likely to vote Republican because
they are more easily manipulated.
When you have both Ignorance and Fear, you have eight
years of George W. Bush and a Republican controlled
Congress. We all know how well that worked out. As if that
weren’t enough, you add the fact that we have so many
older politicians who have been in office so long that
they have literally lost touch with life in today’s world
and are virtually ineffective in solving today’s problems
and challenges. Most are just going through the motions
getting as much as they can for themselves until they die
or are finally forced out. This is the real American
tragedy. This is the great world tragedy.
As we have seen, many world governments have older
leaders, using the same ignorance and fear tactics to
manipulate their own people to follow them in support of
whatever cause or agenda they happen to be pushing. These
governments, like our own, use these things to pretty much
control what we see, hear, or even know.
What these leaders don’t realize, though, is that time and
technology are against them. People all over the world are
speaking to each other on a global scale, educating
themselves, and changing much faster than any government
could possibly have imagined.
Our own politician’s ability to keep people poor, fearful,
denied of basic education, healthcare, or even civil
rights only reinforces America’s need to replace them with
younger leaders willing to do whatever is necessary to
bring this country to where it needs to be in the 21st
Century.
Up to now, our own leaders have done one thing
consistently, and that’s “failed us,” at being the kind of
real leaders we not only need during these times, but the
kind of leaders we should expect to help us when we need
it the most.
Shame on you Washington, Shame on you Congress, and Shame
on every leader who puts their own needs in front of the
needs of the people. Here, in America, when it’s time to
vote, ask yourself one important question, Have they led
effectively? If when times get tough, do they cut
education, police, fire, basic services – then they
haven’t led effectively and need to be replaced, because
it says to you that they don’t care. They and their
children are educated, well fed, good healthcare, feel
safe, and never do without; so why shouldn’t all the
people be given these same basic needs? We are the
taxpayers, the people who they are supposed to work for.
If they’re not going to do the job they were elected to
do, whether Republican or Democrat or even Independent;
then get rid of them – plain and simple.
The rights and needs of the people should never be denied
or compromised so that the needs of a selected few can be
preserved. It hasn’t worked anywhere else and it should no
longer be allowed to continue here. The days of Ignorance
and Fear are coming to an end. And anyone who wishes to
continue to use these outdated ways should be replaced.
The time of change, real change, has begun, not only for
this country, but for the world. The “New World Order”
will be one of communication, knowledge, understanding,
safety, and acceptance. It will prevail because it is how,
we as people of the Earth choose to live!
