Planning for future years on the AT

I have detailed notes from the 51.5 miles completed, but
first let me tell you what I've been thinking over the past
few days hanging out at Beccy and Jon's house as I very
pleasantly interact with the two of them, Ritchie (I even
won decisively three chess games yesterday; we won't talk of
the total played in which I lost with equal decisiveness).

I'm hooked on AT hiking.

But.... grandson, daughter and wife opposed to my hiking
alone in Maine and I read that NH is even worse so am not
thinking of the NC-Tennessee border portion for the next
project because my wife's nearly 90 year old cousin (S's
identical twin, L, and she are her last relatives and look
after her); anyhow, this cousin, C, used to live in
Waynesboro, NC, and has great enthusiasm for my hike,
hanging on every detail. So maybe (haven't run this by
family yet) next year, we'll do a section on that part of
the. C and one twin would travel from connecting point to
next point, and all four of us could converge in motels, or
maybe doing tents -- I don't know. This would bring the
twins who are travel buffs (all three of us -- not Chris)
are going to Patagonia this late October-early NOvember.
What I wish is that I do well with this trail segment
putting family concerns at rest (and my own worries,
amplifying the reassurance I feel from the 51.5 miles of
this year). In the last few days I've learned that there
exist enormous resources on the net for learning more on
bear protection, gear, etc etc. So before I set off with me
(not daughter nor grandson) as organizer, I plan to much
more thorough self-learning.
