Trip to Dubuque, IA, aquarium, then Mattawa, IL

This happened on July 14, the day that Aiden, our sixth
grandchild, was born, first one for a decade (separate entry).

In the meantime, aware that it was going to happen soon, we
traveled to the National Mississippi Aquarium and museum.
Ducks and turtles and snakes and stuff that Susie and
RItchie grooved on with great pleasure. I felt more involved
with the history of the steamboats and that era of the
commercial river (when John Price comes again, we must visit
it!).

Then on to Mattawa and the new house (and housing
development) put up by Rick Phillips, architect. His wife
Linda, my niece, just wrote a splendid piece on E.H. Bennett
his architect step-grandfather instrumental in the design of
Chicago. Stepfather Bennett Jr., also an architect, gave
Rick his role model. Lovely model house that we enjoyed
thoroughly.

Plus Linda is homeschooling her kids and they seem to be
doing extremely well. The visit was such a pleasure. HOme
yesterday.
