My Thoughts On Gay Marriage

When I think about my rights as a Gay Man and the rights
of others in this country, I can’t help but wonder why
there is any question or controversy about my right to
marry. Everyone should be allowed to fall in love with,
and in time, marry the person of their choice as opposed
to a person chosen for them. Hearts don’t know gender,
color, religion, or even age. All it knows is how it
feels. That is the basis of any relationship. It’s a
natural feeling of attraction. Yet, somehow, there are
people who make it a political issue or a moral issue when
it clashes with how they feel or what they believe. They,
then feel compelled to force their personal feelings or
beliefs on others in a completely un-natural way.
What these people fail to realize is that Gays contribute
to and help pay for Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of
Happiness FOR others, but are not afforded those same
rights BY others.
We preach human and equal rights to countries around the
world, yet keep a certain group in our own country from
enjoying those same rights. We talk about Acceptance, but
practice Hatred. We wonder why so much of the world looks
at us as hypocrites.
Love and physical attraction is a natural occurrence, yet
we treat it as a sin when it does not agree with our own
thinking or religious beliefs. Religious beliefs are just
that, beliefs, but God has given us choice and free will
to follow our Hearts, no matter what anyone else might
think.
The restrictions on our God Given rights cannot and should
not be tolerated or accepted by citizens who promote a
free society. Marriage is the affirmation of Love and a
commitment to another Soul in a union of God’s choosing –
“Whom God Has Joined, Let No Man Put Asunder!”
