Connections

3/9/09– 1:20 am? Just thought of Tamara, decided to check my
mail and found she’s written, we are all connected; it’s
learning to feel the connections that’s important. Ran into
Art at the store last night, we talked in the pasta aisle
for almost an hour, I never knew how bad things were for
him; I also never knew how opinionated he is or how that’s
affected his life. I told him that I’d inform Patti that I
saw him, I told him about her buying a house, her boss
starting the company she works for and her new man; Kelly.
3/10/09– 12:06 am? I worked on my LinkedIn profile today,
still only 44% complete, had to go into my records for a
comprehensive education background; working harder on this
thing than I have on any of the other sites I’ve joined and
departed from. I would find a few people when I listed my
last place of employment, the CEO and VP of Sales, I also
found three others I was very familiar with and those three
I sought to contact. Whether any of the three respond to my
request will remain to be seen, I won’t lose any sleep
regardless, I would be waiting to call Zen; I’d send Kenny a
text about John and he’d call later. I called Lynne to ask a
question about a frosting recipe she gave me, Pretty would
call, she’s doing ok in her pregnancy; there’s familial
friction on her horizon. Her Father and Brother don’t like
the idea of her being in her Mother’s house or their city,
they are afraid she’ll see what they’re doing that they know
she won’t like, we were just happy to hear each other; she
didn’t have much to say though.
Pelham would call to tell me the outcome of the problem with
the sign, I’d tell him that he never should have gotten
involved, his company is called “Designs by Pelham;” the
problem should have been between the business he designed
the sign for and the company that hung the sign. He gave me
some song and dance about being concerned for his work, he
thought if an accident involving the sign occurred, the
community would immediately hold him responsible; no idea
how he came to that conclusion. I let him talk, there is no
use attempting to be logical with him, he laughs when I tell
him my solution to the problem; I’ve learned not to stick my
shovel where there’s no shit. The sign company was a
sub-contractor, the issue was between them and the purchaser
of the sign, the initial business; end of story!
I’ve ascertained all this mess made him feel important, he
believes he’s solved the problem, the sign company agreed to
make the repairs because their work is warrantied; initially
they agreed to make the repairs only if Pelham involved them
in his next project, or so he told me.
I found Lavon’s # and decided to call him, he returned my
call, told me that he’s currently working on the opening of
a restaurant and tavern; his Cousin got an early buy-out
from Chrysler and didn’t know how to invest the money. Lavon
says he spends a lot of time in Syracuse, he’s staying at
his Mother’s home, he told me that his Daughter returned to
Syracuse after graduating from college; she’ll be getting a
two-bedroom and he’ll share the apartment with her until the
Family returns to Syracuse.
I think Lavon’s separated from his Wife, not his idea, he
stays in touch with most of the people from Tech Valley; it
amazes me to what lengths people choose to go to affect
another’s view of them. He explained that the business is
located in a warehouse, he said he did a fund raiser for the
owners and has the place (40,000sq ft) rent free for the
rest of the year, he and his Cousin are doing the
renovations themselves; that should take the rest of the year!
I’d talk with Lynne, about whom I’d found on the website,
different food concerns and the contact she’s recently had
with her Eldest.
I’d call Zen, she didn’t know who I was at first, she didn’t
realize I’d be calling her this evening; I’ve found that she
works a couple of blocks away from my apartment. I told her
that I was sorry to have missed the events she invited me to
share, told her what had happened to me, she’s had surgery
on her knees and her business took a downturn; she’s working
part-time for an insurance company and hating it. Purchasing
that house probably wasn’t the best idea she could have at
the time, now she’s scrambling to pay her bills, I’m
realizing that I’m truly blessed and in much better shape
than others that seemed to have been in better economic
positions than myself; I’m not really scrambling to stay
afloat. Kenny needs to sell his house to cover his
outstanding debt, Lavon’s seemingly perfect home life is
confetti, Zen is working almost around the clock to cover
the costs of her business and new house.
I told her that I didn’t know that she was writing or
affiliated with writers and publishers, she told me that
she’s hoping to be able to sell what she writes, that she
isn’t trying to get rich writing; I suggested we get
together when she has time and she told me that she may have
time the beginning of next month.
